HUNK/SPLUNK ENGINEER at Bellevue, WA 98006

6+ months contract







Scope of Work:

The individual needs to be either currently working in a Big Data (Hadoop)
environment or has worked in one in the past year.

The position can be based in Plano (with 50% travel to Seattle) or based in
Seattle. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, install,
configure, test and deliver Big Data Analytics solutions.







This includes:

• Responsible for designing, developing, testing, debugging, deploying and
maintaining Splunk/HUNK solutions and dashboards running on Big Data
technologies such as Hadoop.

• Splunk/HUNK deployment, configuration and maintenance across a variety of
UNIX and Windows platforms.

• Troubleshoot Splunk/HUNK server and agent problems and issues.

• Populate Splunk/HUNK from 3rd party data sources (i.e. bash/python
scripts/SQL DB/APIs) • Develop reliable, efficient queries that will feed
custom Alert, Dashboards and Reports • Design and maintain
production-quality dashboards.

• Mentor and train Splunk/HUNK users and administrators.

• Participate in design discussions and author design documentation. Map
design artifacts to system requirements.



Qualifications:

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Management
Information Systems or acceptable equivalent.

• Over 8 years of IT experience designing and integrating technology
solutions.

• Minimum 3 years of experience using Splunk/HUNK.



• Strong knowledge of Splunk query language • Comprehensive experience with
the Splunk/HUNK tool (search terms, ability to do correlation between data
sets, data indexing) • Developed and has customized Splunk/HUNK
applications and dashboards • Implemented Splunk integration to external
systems • Working understanding of Solaris, Linux and Windows operating
systems.

• Ability to program in Python, Perl, Shell and C++ is desirable •
Familiarity with Java-based server applications & logging frameworks •
Exposure to database/big data technologies such as SQL, MySQL, Oracle, •
Exposure to NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Mongodb, Redis •
Understanding of Network Firewalls, Load-balancers, and complex network
designs • Prior experience in the Telecom Services industry is a plus •
Outstanding verbal and written communication is a must • Ability to work in
a fast-paced, enterprise environment
