*Cognos Developer *

*Location: *Candidate is required to be local to New York City*
Length: 18 months*

* *

*Duties and Responsibilities:*

Primary responsibilities include leading small-to-medium scale project teams
while maintaining thorough knowledge of the organization’s contracts,
relevant technologies and development processes.  S/he supports Project
Managers by investigating and recommending technical solutions for complex
Business Intelligence & Performance Management based problems.



*Required Skills:*

·                Reputable Bachelors degree required; advanced degree
preferred or equivalent work experience

·                IBM Cognos technical certification a plus; IBM Certified
Solution Expert - Cognos 8 BI preferred

·                Usually has 8+  years of consulting or similar work
experience in a technical role with general industry knowledge; with a
reputable Master degree 6+ years of experience may be acceptable

·                Proven ability to manage and direct the activities of the
Enterprise Solution team

·                Proven ability to derive architectural and functional
strategies from business goals

·                Proven ability to establish influential partnerships with
C-level executives

·        Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal,
and leadership skills

*Model responsibilities include:*

·        Data Management Consulting including data warehouse/mart
implementation, data

·        migration, business intelligence, and other information management
technologies

·        Application systems design, integration, and testing, where an
application may be built on: IBM Cognos 8, MS SQL Server, and other
commercially available or custom built software

·        Provides direction and architectural leadership for the creation of
innovative solutions from scratch

·        Identifies and investigates high-risk, high return technologies
within existing divisions

·        Investigates, recommends, and oversees technical solutions for
complex problems

·        Reviews and evaluates all activities performed by the team and
takes action for improvement

·        Ensures high quality training for the resources to make them more
productive and competent

·        Needs to interact with other groups to ensure effective
implementation of initiatives

·        Champions architectural design, strategic direction, and overall
program development

·        Functions as a mentor and consultant to individuals and teams for
providing direction with regards to tasks, assignments, and/or projects and
career growth



*Secondary responsibilities include*:

·        Works with the Project Manager to develop and carryout the
Implementation plan

·        Utilizes expertise in a highly specialized technology areas to
direct team activities

·        Participates in a wide range of architecture activities spanning
multiple technologies/platforms

·        Enables project teams to understand and effectively implement
Enterprise Solutions

·        Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with team members,
clients, and executives

·        Serves as a Peer Advisor for BNPS staff and as mentor technical
individuals
