*Position: .SQL Database Developer * *Location : Portland, OR * *Duration: 3+ Months * *Interview Mode: Phone/Skype * *Job Requirement :* In collaboration with another database developer, manage and perform all activities related to development and maintenance of Marketing Databases (MDB) and its interfaces to systems and data sources internal and external. Consult and direct on database best practices and emerging technologies and applications. · Develop, maintain and enhance the database structure, system functions and features, and system and user documentation. · Design, implement and maintain automated systems to import customer-related data on various set schedules into the MDB from other production database systems. · Import customer-related data into the MDB from external sources, from routine datasets not sourced directly from production database systems and ad hoc datasets provided from a variety of sources. · Export and deliver data extracts and reports to internal and external systems and clients. · Manage and resolve all technical and process issues related to the database, its data and its interfaces. *JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Marketing Database development and maintenance: The Marketing Database (“MDB”) is a family of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 databases, housing current and historical monthly snapshots of customer data and purchased demographic data, some dating back over ten years. Total database size totals approximately 300GB. The databases are used to analyze customer purchasing behavior, likelihood of interest in new products, random selection of customers for telephone and Web interviews, longitudinal studies of customer behavior over time, production of numerous reports and time-sensitive postal/electronic mailing lists. This position will focus on pilot programs and research projects, with secondary responsibilities of supporting other customer analytics functions and processes within Customer Insights. · Database design: create or modify database schema as required for new or enhanced client services · Design, program and maintain complex scripting objects (stored procedures, views, T-SQL functions, etc.) · Monitor successful completion of 50+ automated jobs. Troubleshoot issues and enhance jobs as necessary. · Design, implement and maintain both automated and ad-hoc technical computer database programs to import customer data from multiple PGE and external systems into an operational database optimized for PGE customer research. Data imports are both automated (system-to-system interfaces) and ad hoc (as requested by clients) and occur on fixed intervals or on an as-needed basis. Data sets are typically archived for longitudinal analysis. · Document logical and physical components of the Marketing Database, including metadata schema; scripting objects, automated jobs, etc. · Monitor all aspects of the MDB, including automated processes for importing and exporting customer research data, mailing lists, reports and data feeds to other systems both internal and external. *KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * · BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. · Proficiency in SQL Server database administration, data modeling, T-SQL, and XML. · Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2012. · In-depth knowledge of Transact-SQL, including complex joins, filters, aggregations and system functions. · Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability. · Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and effective interpersonal skills.
