*Job Title: Sybase IQ DBA*
*Location: New York City, NY (Mid Town)*
*Overview:*
*This is an exciting opportunity for well-qualified Sybase SQL DBA to join
the Database Platform operations group at a major global investment bank. *
The successful candidate’s primary role will be to provide production
support for the bank’s global Sybase SQL database estate.
The candidate must be a good team player, with a proven track record of
delivery in high pressure, technically challenging environments. Good
technical, communication and interpersonal skills are particularly
important.
*Role / Principal Accountabilities*
· Provide production support to various Sybase database environments
across the bank
· Develop procedures for database monitoring, maintenance, backup,
recovery and automated alerts based on server thresholds and events
· Develop maintenance regimes
· Expert in tasks automation
· Create and implement security models
· Server, query, application performance tuning
· Support application teams in the logical and physical database
design
*Skills & Experience Required:*
· 7+ years' experience
· Solid Sybase ASE, IQ and Rep Server experience, MSSQL a plus
· In-depth knowledge in building infrastructure ("setting up shop")
for large databases
· In-depth knowledge in different disaster-recovery and warm-backup
schemes, procedures, and implementations
· Data Center Migration experience
· Knowledge of Autosys
