I have an urgent need for a Senior Cisco Networking Engineer for a potentially long term contract in the Boston area. Must have CCNA or preferably CCIE certifications. *Senior Cisco Consultant #7473 *Location: Chelsea, MA Duration: Thru 12/31/10 (likely extension into 2011) Client is in need of a qualified Network Engineer to help with the day to day activities as well as with the current project workload. The candidate will need to be knowledgeable and have experience in all aspects of LAN/WAN technologies, routing protocols like OSPF, BGP and static routing, Frame Relay and MPLS, VLSM, expertise in Cisco Systems hardware especially with configuring IOS. The candidate will need to have experience with Cisco Call Manager, VoIP, QoS, Policy Maps and Policy Based Routing, will also need to develop and create a QoS Policy document that can be used as a reference and guide to client. He or she will be responsible for making recommendations and proposals on network configurations, designs as well as creating network diagrams and presentations. *RESPONSIBILITIES *· Configuring of WAN and Core Networks including router based Frame-Relay and MPLS circuits. · Configuring of QoS parameters on WAN and Core routers/switches. · Configuring of traffic shaping and queuing strategies on WAN and Core routers/switches in support of VoIP. · Provide technology support by installing switches, routers, and IP phones. · Fault Management and troubleshooting of issues associated with WAN and Core routers/switches. · Fault Management and troubleshooting of issues associated with WAN and Core QoS/VoIP traffic. · Will need to perform software upgrades on all WAN and Core routers/switches via tftp/ftp. · Will need to install or replace WAN and Core routers/switches and other associated hardware such as cables, DSU/CSU · Must be able to identify if WAN and Core interfaces are functioning properly, by using various Cisco IOS commands to determine interface functional status. · Must be able to identify if WAN and Core IP routing tables are valid and that routes are being propagated correctly. · Must be able to do WAN and Core IP trace routes. · Must be able to upgrade new Cisco software IOS images to WAN and Core routers/switches without any Supervisor intervention. · Must be able to capture configuration information for WAN and Core router statistics without any Supervisor intervention. · Will need to setup Network General Sniffer to perform packet captures. · Will need to perform advanced protocol analysis using Network General Sniffers. · Will need to troubleshoot complex WAN and Core IP routing issues related to IP/OSPF and IP subnet masking. · Will need to administer/configure filtering schemes associated with IP. · Will need to perform WAN router/switch and network performance analysis using commands/tools associated with Cisco IOS. · Will need to retrieve hardware quotes from resellers in support of procurement. · Will need to create and submit Supply Requests for new hardware. · Will need to arrange design meetings with our vendor partners to discuss technology updates. · Will need to work with our customers, arrange meetings, and create design proposals. · Will have to create detailed Visio diagrams in support of network hardware deployments. · Collaborates with users, vendors, and other technical staff members on the identification, isolation and correction of problems as well as enhancements in the WAN/Core network. · Consistently follows standard change management processes. Document and evaluate impact of required changes to the various networked systems. Plan, schedule and communicate changes to be implemented. · In some instances car travel to a customer site might be required. (any travel expenses are incorporated in the all inclusive rate) · Will need to communicate written and orally to team members and to your Supervisor, will need to be able to work independently as well as in a team without Supervisor assistance. · Will need to provide bi-weekly status reports to Supervisor.
