My DIRECT client in Newark, NJ is looking for a Oracle Application Developer with Java experience and finance background. If the consultant has experience with Actuarial Systems is a big plus. Responsibilities: Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staffs at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.). The candidate will work closely with project stakeholders to design and lead development of the strategic architecture to support current and future business needs. The candidate will actively participate in the full SDLC including development, deployment, testing and support of the applications. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions. Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for the applications. Acts as expert technical resource to help development staffs in all phases of the development and implementation process. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested Adept at leading teams of professionals through analysis, design, and testing project phases. Required Skills: 4-6 years Oracle developer with relevant software development experience Experience with Java, UNIX, Web Services, Distributed processing, and integration with mainframe interfaces Financial Services industry knowledge a plus Communication skills, inter-personal, effective collaboration and business-facing skills is required. Driven, self-motivated, able to work under pressure using sound judgment & professionalism EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Substantial knowledge and experience in statistical analysis techniques such as segmentation, primary research analytics, lifetime value, ROI, acquisition and retention modeling. • 5 years in a business environment analyzing data and providing actionable insights • 1-2 years of experience using base using statistical analysis tools (R, SPSS, SAS, etc.) to import, cleanse, and analyze data. • Experience providing consultation and direction regarding analytical techniques to non-analytics audiences. • Some experience using statistical analysis tools to build logistic regression models, statistical segmentation models, time series models, etc. • BS/BA degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, or equivalent experience, advanced degrees are a plus. • Working knowledge of analytical methods as applied to business analysis, marketing research, or database marketing. • Proven ability to analyze large and complex data sets with appropriate tools/approaches and provide meaningful insights. • Superior quantitative skills with proven data interpretation capabilities.
