Position: Release Manager

Location: DC

Duration: 3 years contract

Job Description:

Manages the deployment build process, code branching/merging/conflicts, and
possibly deployments & change management. Works in conjunction with content
mgmt and applications development teams to ensure accurate planning and
coordination of sprint deployment events; serves as main coordination point
across all teams and owns deployment maintenance planning events (deployment
plan, call, etc). Leads the production team in completing maintenance
activities as planned.



This position will be responsible for the administration, customization and
development of applications. The ideal candidate will be highly organized,
extremely detail oriented, self-motivated, and a demonstrated ability to
respond effectively to changing workloads and priorities.



Required:

A highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated resource that
possesses a demonstrated ability to respond effectively to changing
workloads and priorities. This resource will:



•    Possess a minimum of 7 years of hands on release management experience
for web applications

•    Experience in enterprise class systems, system development, quality
assurance, deployment, configuration, release and change management
methodologies and concepts

•    Experience working within the Agile methodology and with the tools and
technologies included within the DSO environment

•    Exceptional project management, interpersonal, and communication
skills.

*    Must be a leader and initiative-taker, who can interact with senior and
mid-management to set the direction for Release Management strategy, and
lead the teams in implementation and operationalization of the strategy

•    Able to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner

•    High integrity, self-directed; ability to work independently, while
leading and coordinating    diverse teams

•    Working knowledge of Apex, S-Controls, Triggers, API integration, and
Mash-ups

This function will be responsible for the process, policy and procedure
development, adoption and adherence for the effective management of releases
into the production environment, as well as the integration between AARP.org
and other IT systems.



 Desired:

·         Experience working with DSO tools and technologies including:
JIRA, Confluence, Remedy, Day Communique, Pluck, Java/J2EE, Struts,
Hibernate, SVN, mySQL

·         Experience working with Release Management and Scrum planning that
includes distributed and/or offshore development and teams.
