Manager, Information Technology - Server Engineering

Functional Areas of Responsibility:  Global – Server Engineering,
Architecture & Design, Disaster Recovery Services



*Experience Required:*

·         B. S.  Degree in Computer Science or 10+ years of relevant
industry experience.

·         Minimum, 5 years of experience in managing a large scale 2,000+
enterprise level server infrastructure team in a true global environment,
delivering infrastructure services across geographic and business
boundaries.

·         Must have items for this candidate include, but are not limited
to:

o   Has managed enterprise environments that are a minimum of 2000 + servers

o   Has managed an international team, international server deployments,
international customers

o   The completion of multiple Data Center consolidations

o   The completion of active directory consolidations – Multiple domains,
multiple forests

o   Has completed Win 2003 to 2008 & Win 2003 to 2012 migrations

·         While this is not a technician level role, the candidate must
possess the ability for ‘hands on’ technical functions such as design
review, analysis, problem resolution, mentoring and education of the
technical staff

·         Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred, but not a must
have for the proper candidate

·         Capability to think & act in terms of industrial value chains and
to manage the IT service end-to-end (from sourcing to pricing, from global
to local).

·         Significant working technical knowledge of enterprise level
server architecture and virtualization technologies.

·         Significant working knowledge of Active Directory, VMware, Hyper
V, V-sphere, IT Security, Citrix, high availability configurations,
capacity management, system design, storage, backup and recovery
technologies are a must have.  A working knowledge of OKTA is a plus.

·         Setting & implementing D/R strategy.  The candidate should have
understanding & experience in the deployment of working D/R
implementations, D/R testing and actual D/R failovers.

·         Experience in managing large scale global infrastructure and
business projects.

·         Financial experience in managing operational and capital
budgets.  As well as experience with cross departmental charge back models.

·         An experienced manager; meaning the candidate must possess
experience in the full performance management cycle, including but not
limited to the writing of annual goals & objectives for the staff,
bi-annual performance evaluations, coaching, team building, disciplinary
actions, performance improvement plans, etc, …

·         Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Responsible for developing and maintaining a global strategy for
server engineering of the Windows, technologies. A working understanding of
UNIX, LINUX and AS/400 is a plus.

·         Responsible for the service life cycle management for the
deployed global Windows environment, including the architecture and 5 year
technology roadmap

·         Responsible for delivering Global IT Infrastructure Services to
all Allergan divisions, as it relates to server engineering.
Responsibilities for this role include building a global technical services
organization that will support enterprise systems, storage and backup &
recovery infrastructure; including the engineering, operations, technical
support and continuous service improvement functions.

·         Responsible for driving system virtualization levels to a target
of 90%.

·         Responsible for producing meaningful management metrics and KPI’s
for all areas of functional responsibility.

·         Responsible for ensuring that internally and externally sourced
IT services in the area of Enterprise Systems Architecture, Systems
Management, Capacity Management are all aligned with the business
requirements of Allergan divisions.  Those services are delivered in
accordance with customer requirements, Allergan IT Standards and are
aligned with industry best practice standards.

·         Responsible for contract negotiation for all technical system
software, license renewals and monitoring tool software.

·         Such as negotiating of the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA)
and VMWare licenses.

·         Responsible for service level management, process improvements,
demand management, capacity management, configuration management, change
management, financial management, incident management & problem management,
vendor management and contract management

·         Develop and define strategic technology standards across for the
WinTel discipline.
Keeping abreast of new server, performance and virtualization technologies,
defining business use cases where applicable.
