Position :Network Engineer Location: Murray Hill, NJ Duration: 6 Months *IN-PERSON INTERVIEW REQUIRED* Job Description: An extensive background in Solarwinds' Network Management platforms including: Network Performance (Orion NPM) Network Application Data (SAM) IP Addresses (IPAM) IP Service Level Agreements (VoIP and Network Quality Manager) NetFlow Traffic Analysis Data (NTA) Solarwinds Certified Professional is a major plus Knowledge in other management platforms is a plus (Netbrain, Openview, Spectrum) A solid knowledge of Network Management theory including ICMP and SNMP along with an understanding of MIB and manager interactions Understanding of Netflow and its export Experience in Building an Orion Server platform Experience in Building an Orion Database platform and its SQL requirements Knowledge of Solarwinds licensing format Experience in adding Network Objects and Devices and using Orion to perform Network Discovery Tasks Create and manage user and group accounts along with security privileges and limitations Creating alerts and notifications along with defining thresholds Understanding of Orion's "Quality of Excellence" approach and packet analysis sensor operation and implementation Understanding the ORION console and creating custom web views Building Network Maps Creating custom reports and charts Using Network Management in a Virtual (VMware) environment Deploying Solarwinds agents Design and implement High Availability and DR based Solarwinds management Implementation/administration knowledge of popular monitoring/troubleshooting suites such as: Solarwinds, An understanding of local and wide area networks, servers and systems. This should include, but should not be limited to, server platforms, VMware, network switches and routers, firewall, proxy, VOIP, IP SLA, Netflow, QOS, and various WAN services. OVERVIEW: Our client is seeking an experienced professional with Network Management and Monitoring systems administration experience. The candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support for monitoring of the infrastructure and application environments. This includes the monitoring of hardware (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, critical servers and carrier circuits.) and applications. This position will work with others to design, build, implement, and maintain the monitoring configurations needed for systems, as well as train other personnel on the monitoring tools and how to best use them. The position requires an individual with an overall knowledge of IT logical, technical, and monitoring architecture principles.
