Minimum Requirements:

*Experience*:

   - Typically candidates in this role will possess 10+ years of relevant
   experience.
   - 5-8 years experience in supporting large Linux, AIX & Intel
   environments.
   - 5-8 years experience in installing, maintaining and supporting IBM
   Websphere Portal and WCM products on Linux, AIX.
   - 5-8 years experience in installing, maintaining and supporting JBoss
   Application Server products on Linux, AIX and Windows.
   - 1-3 years experience in provisioning Middleware and application
   components using Pivotal Cloud Foundry preferred.
   - 1-3 years of DevOps, Agile, KanBan, Continuous Release or other modern
   software and infrastructure processes.
   - 1-3 years experience working with Apigee Edge API management platform
   or comparable technology preferred

Description:

 *Position Objective*:

This position requires technical expertise to ensure COMPANY’s Web
environment provides our business customers with exceptional levels of
service in delivery of the software infrastructure upon which their
applications run. The infrastructure must deliver application platforms
that are both available and responsive to business requirements. This
position is recognized as a technical leader, possessing a broad
understanding of the applications and technical architectures, including
the inter-operability of technologies in the current and planned
infrastructure.  Because of the incumbent’s exceptional breadth of
knowledge of COMPANYs applications and technical environments, or because
of their unique technical capabilities, or both, this position
significantly raises the ability of COMPANY IT to add value to the
business.  This position stays apprised of the changing technical
environment, and is integrally involved in defining future technical
strategies for COMPANY. Experience with Cloud technologies and
infrastructure transformation is preferred.

 *Major Opportunities*:

   - Provides technical leadership for the most critical and complex
   projects and / or acts as a key technical advisor to project teams
   providing novel approaches and technical insights.
   - May often be leveraged across the organization, staffed to and/or
   consulting to projects that require their special expertise.

*Principal Activities*:

Engineer WebSphere, JBoss and Cloud Foundry environments and their add-on
functions in accordance with best practices and Guardian policy

   - Design highly available, scalable and resilient solutions to meet
   business requirements.
   - Provide tier 4 escalation point to Middleware Operations team.
   - Develop controls to align to the Center for Internet Security (CIS)
   benchmarks for configuration management.
   - Develop, monitor and maintain security controls aligned to Model Audit
   Rule, HIPAA regulations, SSAW-16 and Internal Audit.
   - Develop processes to pro-actively monitor the performance of the web
   environment.  Develop and implement processes to optimize performance.
   - Certify new product releases, major functionality and architectural
   designs for use at Guardian.
   - Define / automate services through orchestration tools in conjunction
   with Cloud Engineering group.
   - Participate in Guardian's SDLC and Project Governance processes.
   - Develop and automate solutions in support of DevOps methodologies.
   - Play a leadership role in planning for the future infrastructure,
   proposing new directions and technologies.
   - Assist in the design of E-Business system high-availability, disaster
   recovery and application fail-over.
   - Provides leadership and unique insights in the analysis of customer
   business requirements that may cross multiple technical platforms and have
   broad strategic implications for Guardian.  Develop technical
   specifications for the most complex solutions.
   - Provides technical mentoring to more junior team members and
   developers, raising the bar of technical expertise within the organization.
   - Propose / develop new technical standards and develop migration plans
   to the future technology infrastructure.
   - Ensures the transfer of their knowledge through documentation, on the
   job training, technical presentations and on-going technical coaching.
   - May initiate strategic projects that will add significant value to the
   business.
   - May act as a technical project lead or key technical resource for a
   project team.  May consult to multiple project teams.
   - Maintains a network of peers in their field to improve ability to
   solve system problems, identify best practices and assess new technologies
   and their value to Guardian.

 *Education*:

   - BA / BS Degree or equivalent experience, preferably Computer Science
