*Location Long Island City, NY* *Position: IT Project Manager* *Duration 12 Months with possibilities of extension * *SUMMARY* • The candidate will serve as project manager/coordinator for a large software package deployment and integration project involving organizational change in an organization of over 8,000 employees in over 1200 locations. The candidate will be responsible for administrating, managing, modifying and maintaining a complex project plan (previously developed), coordinating with team leads responsible for several work streams. He/she will work in a matrixed environment in which work stream leads report to functional managers in in-house and vendor organizations. He/she will ensure sub-projects and the project as a whole are efficiently and effectively executed in a coordinated manner. He or she will be responsible for obtaining project performance data, refining or enhancing the project reporting approach and reporting at multiple levels of detail to the stakeholders. • The candidate will ensure that key stakeholders, are kept abreast of project issues and risks and engaged to review and approve decisions affecting the project, its schedule, budget, and affecting business operations and technical architecture. • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and across technical and non-technical disciplines. In addition to project management expertise, a strong understanding of business concepts and practices, data management and Information technology and an ability to communicate with both business and technology professionals is needed. *Key relationships:* • The Project Manager will have primary relationships with the PMO team, the heads of the work streams (IT application development, training, IT infrastructure, deployment, finance, contracting, etc.) and the management of vendors, as well as the executive leadership and management of the effected business areas. *Major responsibilities include:* • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to the project’s performance • Coordinate all aspects of a highly complex project, including project planning, execution, communication, functionality, quality, communication, risk, schedule, and cost • Manage stakeholder communications and the project scope change control process • Ensure that key stakeholders measure proposed solutions against benefits and risks to make decisions • Coordinate multiple interdependent work streams simultaneously in a single project plan using Microsoft Project • Ensure the identification and timely resolution to project issues, problems and change requirements • Create and present project status reports and other presentations to project team and project stakeholders *Skills / Experience required* • 8+ years of experience in project management within large organizations on medium to large scale projects comprised of sub-projects and distinct deliverables • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills • Proficient in project management software • PMP/Prince II certification is a plus • Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management and change management *Qualification Requirements* Minimum Professional/vendor certification(s) in project management that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following: • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in the management of complex IT centric business projects integrating a package solution with business process change, staff training, hardware implementation and IT infrastructure elements; or • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in “1” above; or • A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in “1” above.
