*Role Description:*

This position works within the Enterprise Data Center (EDC) in the
Commonwealth Technology Center (CTC) in the Bureau of Compute and Messaging
Services.  This position provides support for the EDC data center
infrastructure services including Windows and Linux server administration,
Active Directory services, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) administration,
Patch Management and systems and application monitoring.  Knowledge
required for this position includes but is not limited to, experience with
Microsoft Windows administration and Microsoft System Center Operations
Manager (SCOM).  Proven experience in troubleshooting technical issues,
working in a multi-team environment along with excellent written and verbal
communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively over the
phone with remote customers are essential for this position.



*Description of Duties*

Deploys, configures, administers and upgrades EDC’s Microsoft System Center
Operations Manager (SCOM) implementation.

Works with clients and other technical teams to define requirements for
monitoring systems and applications deployed within the EDC.

Configures, maintains and documents custom monitoring solutions.

Provides customer support for troubleshooting complex IT issues within the
EDC.

Administers and maintains an enterprise Active Directory environment for
multiple parent and child domains.

Maintains and supports enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services
for multiple parent and child domains.

Participates in monthly patching cycle to apply patches and monitor
compliance which may occur after normal business hours.

Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for EDC
processes.

Participates in an on-call rotation schedule requiring 24x7 support every
6-8 weeks or as needed.

Demonstrates the ability to effectively use an Incident/Change management
system such as Service Now.

Maintains current knowledge of enterprise policies and procedures including
IT Bulletins, Management Directives, CISO security recommendations and EDC
practices in order to ensure service offerings are in compliance with
established policies.



The Product Specialist is the expert for a technical development or
execution environment product or set of products. The primary
responsibility of a Product Specialist is to ensure the availability and
facilitate the productive use of a product for Application Teams or end
users.  The Product Specialist may own part of a product, all of one, or
several products depending on the nature of the product(s) and their use.
The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills
in the product supported.  The Product Specialist will usually also have
significant experience in the operating environment(s) (e.g., HP/UX, NT,
MVS, etc.) on which the product is implemented.  If the product is one that
was internally developed,  the  supporting  PS  should  also  have  most
of  the  skills  of  a  Programmer.  The Product Specialist is responsible
for collaborating with Technical Architecture Specialist, System
Specialists, Programmers and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the
product and effect migration to new versions of a product.
