*Job Title : Sr. Linux Engineer Location : Arlington, VA Duration : 6 + Months Rate : $45/Hr* Sr. Linux Engineer We are seeking a hands-on Senior level Linux Engineer with systems management, monitoring and software release experience to manage servers in a 24x7 web hosting data center environment. For this role we're seeking an individual with in-depth experience in 24x7 server operations, Apache and networking. Strong troubleshooting skills (network and server level) are a critical requirement for this role. While we're looking for an individual that can handle emergencies, the ideal candidate will have a strong dedication to process, standardization, documentation, and minimizing the risk of emergency situations. Such an individual should view producing good documentation and maintaining tight configuration management as mission critical activities. Responsibilities: Evaluate, install, debug, audit and proactively manage UNIX/Linux servers Monitor server and application monitoring Participate in on call rotation Consistently meet Service Level Agreements when responding to customer issues Act as an escalation point for customer reported technical issues Configure new and existing hardware by installing operating systems and applications. Manage the software upgrade process including version and patch management Perform hardware maintenance on servers including fault diagnosis and repair and replacement of defective hardware Diagnose and troubleshoot OS and network issues Migrate customer configurations between hardware platforms Contribute to improvements in service quality by identifying, recommending Participate in an on-call rotation Requirements: 7+ years supporting Linux/Unix servers in a hosting environment In-depth knowledge of various Linux distributions (Redhat, CentOS) Experience in HP and Dell hardware including fault diagnosis and hardware replacement Experience in installing, configuring and running Unix, Linux and knowledge of Windows servers in a hosting environment Experience configuring, running and troubleshooting mail servers including Qmail, Postfix, Imail and Sendmail Experience with VMWare ESXi Experience with CPanel and Plesk Experience with DNS Strong and effective verbal and written communicator.
