Role: DB2 DBA Location: Memphis, TN Duration: 6 month contract Rate: Market *Job Description:* The Mid-Level DBA position is one of more responsibility than you will find at most companies. This position normally reports and works under the guidance of Sr.-level DBAs as well as a DBA manager. The DBA at First Horizon can expect to perform or participate in any of the following task: install databases, install database clients, monitor database growth, monitor logs, analysis for tuning and performance, backups and restore databases, setup and revoke database security, debugging errors, data modeling, add and remove objects from schemas, disaster recovery planning and exercises, scripting, development projects, and software evaluations. The DBA is expected to support the systems development life cycle, produce high quality results, and participate in an on-call rotation. May lead and direct the work of others. In this role being a team player is essential. *Required Skills* • Three to five+ years of experience doing support and implementation of DB2 databases • Firm grasp of DB2 backup and recovery concepts including the differences on various platforms. • Clear understanding of DB2 utilities and commands including the differences between various platforms. • Firm grasp of SQL and diagnosis of DB2 error messages and report them with supporting information to the various development groups we support. • Understanding of the various log information available and how to diagnose reported errors. • Experience writing and understanding z/OS based JCL. • Excellent presentation, communication and written skills. • English speaking and writing abilities required (position will interface with business partners and communication skills are essential). • Experience across several DB2 versions, including but not limited to V7, V8, and/or V9 • Exposure to DB2 running on both z/OS and UDB (UNIX /Windows) platforms • DB2 database security facilities exposure • DB2 Connect experience is a plus • Data modeling experience (ErWin) • Experience with NetBackup a strong plus • Database creation should be understood, with the ability to follow guidelines as to the naming of Databases, files both data and indexes and all other database physical attributes. • Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server exposure/skills are a plus but not required; part of the role will involve light SQL Server ad DB2 support; training will be provided • Experience with TSO, COBOL and CICS is a strong plus • Ability to operate with minimal guidance by more senior personnel on normal processes once trained to do them. • Experience with ETL Tools, such as Infosphere's DataStage. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "oraapps" group.
