Role/Title: Sr Project Manager
Location: Santa Ana, CA
Duration: 6 months
- Organize and lead cross functional project teams of various size and
scope, including cross-site teams
- Develop, review and approve plans for completing project deliverables,
including scheduling and coordinating activities of project team members
- Ensure the project plan, scope, work breakdown structure, schedule,
risk, budget, and deliverables are in alignment with the project goals and
objectives
- Facilitate team participation, conflict resolution and consensus
building
- Apply and mentor others on the use of corporate standard project
management tools and methodologies
- Practice and mentor others in project management, team leadership,
coaching and other disciplines inherent to project management
- Ensure required project documentation is prepared according to the
current methodology
- Apply best practice approaches toward the management of project risk
and risk mitigation
- Build rapport with and among all project stakeholders and instill
confidence in the ability to add value and meet identified needs
- Partner with the business by gaining a deeper understanding of their
needs and proving our value by providing optimum solutions that go above and
beyond client, customer and associate expectations
- Strengthen relationships with business partners and customers by
fostering a culture of continuous exchange of innovative solutions
- Communicate effectively with customers and actively seek alignment with
expectations on all aspects of project execution
- Respond effectively to customer inquiries and requests and seek
opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
- Review and approve milestone deliverables for presentation to the
customer and other project stakeholders
- Ensure that a solid approach is used to track issues and their
resolution throughout the life-cycle of the project
- Direct the development and implementation of metrics and measures for
process and application monitoring and improvement
- Promote the use of effective change control techniques to manage
adjustments to documented requirements
- Ensure project change is fully and effectively integrated within
impacted business unit
- Facilitate and/or initiate post-implementation project reviews;
document best practices and lessons learned for project archives
Requirements:

- A qualified candidate will have solid experience with client and
systems integrations. SDLC is also a huge plus!
- The “people” management skills is more pertinent for this position than
the actual “project” management skills. This position is all about
motivating the team / knowing how to manage the team, etc, rather than just
about the “fundamentals” of project management work
- Project Management experience at a senior level (this is not a junior
level role where we’re looking for candidates with 3-4 years. This is a
senior level position.) The qualified candidate will have had manager
positions in the past *and* have 6 years of PM experience
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience leading a variety of large projects
- $ and people
- Software development and client implementation Project Management
experience required
- The proven ability to manage large scale, large budget projects with
medium to high complexity while managing team of up to 40+ associates
- Knowledge of multi-platform programming languages and supporting
infrastructures, including web-based technology
- Experience with business system design, testing techniques and
methodologies
- A solid understanding of capabilities, features and limitations of
system development tools and technology standards
- Experience in the application of technology solutions, including
platforms and development of processes
- The understanding and application of the PMBOK knowledge areas and key
processes; apply knowledge of industry practices and trends
- Ability to perform duties under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high
volume, office work environment
- Experience with HP PPM (Project & Portfolio Management Software)
helpful
- PMP Certification helpful, but not required
- Agile or Scrum methodologies a plus, but not required
- Microsoft Project experience preferred
- Insurance industry experience is a plus
