Job title: Network Security Engineer Location: Santa Ana, CA Duration: 6 months Position Description: Seeking a self-motivated, self-starter with demonstrated ability to perform under minimum supervision. Individual will be focusing on maintaining, assessing, and remediating secure network and application infrastructure in a mixed OS environment. Adjusted work week including evenings and weekends, and 'on-call' participation may be required. Individual will report to Security Manager or Team Lead. Skills & Experience: Required Skills: * 2+ years demonstrated experience with security infrastructure technologies like Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Email Encryption, Device OS Hardening, encryption, vulnerability assessment, and other security related disciplines. * Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and within a collaborative team environment. The candidate must be approachable, diplomatic and adaptable to a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented atmosphere. The candidate must be a team player with a positive 'can-do' attitude who must be able to assist team members when required, with strong oral and written communication skills. The candidate must set aside time for proper documentation and project planning; * 2+ years of experience in government infrastructure environment. * In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, IP Addressing, Network routing protocols, VLANs, IPSEC VPN, Packet Capture and analysis, and normal operations of Active Directory, Windows OS, Unix, and AIX. Responsibilities: The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the operations and maintenance, and troubleshooting of security network infrastructure in a large enterprise network. Take part in the daily support activity by managing the security tools to secure the infrastructure. Typical Responsibilities: * Administration of the Firewalls: policies implementations, regular rules review & cleanup, maintain the Firewalls product to up-to-date version, support for incidents. * Monitoring client networks in the enterprise network environment to identify and prevent unauthorized use from both internal and external sources. * Provide engineering and analysis support for the implementation and maintenance of security architecture components and monitoring software (i.e., firewall, IDS/IPS, Web Filtering, Email Filtering, Remote Access, and Encryption). * Identify, resolve, and report security violations in a timely fashion to protect and prevent network resources and data from unauthorized users. * Maintain documentation on Security Operations Process and Procedures. * Keep Ticketing and work order system logs up to date in timely manner. * Research and stay current on all security technologies, issues, and vulnerabilities, including security vendor's products. * Incident identification and response. This includes correctly identifying and evaluating incidents. * Perform periodic network penetration testing and vulnerability assessments of all applications and network elements for adherence to client policy. * Analyzing networks to ensure their security against unauthorized use. * Producing reports and generating alerts as necessary. * Responsible for the meeting team achievement goals and objectives. Education & Experience: * Bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Systems, or equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience. * Prefer individual to be a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and/or possess a Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC).
