Need only GC and Citizens for this position. Job Description:* Design Technology Engineering Compute. EC provides the Freescale global Engineering community with a unified strategy & architecture infrastructure, deploys and supports engineering applications, establishes a common design environment, and ensures security & compliance to company wide standards. *Duties and Responsibilities: * -This administrator is responsible for rapidly identifying and resolving OS-related failures, and for coordinating resolution in equipment failures. -The Unix/Linux Systems Administrator Specialist is responsible for supporting a large RedHat Linux & Unix/Solaris engineering compute environment, including end user workstations and design center operations. -Oversees administration, installation, maintenance and proper licensing of systems, including installation of server operating systems, patches and upgrades. -Operations of onsite EC servers, desktops, applications. -Upgrade, patch, tune, monitor, & troubleshoot to maximize functionality. Provide day to day end user computing support. -Work with remote (offsite) EC & CAD team members with implementing new computing technologies & projects. -Adhere to organizational quality standards & procedures. -Drive resolution of issues within the team & EC cross functional depts. -Provides for security and integrity of systems, including development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures, overseeing assignment of access and security rights and supervising regular security checks. -Responsible for the integrity of data and ensures that back-up recovery systems are reliable. -Develops specifications for, writes and debugs scripts and programs that enhance utility of systems and provide effective user interfaces to other systems. -Plans for disaster recovery in the event of an unforeseen emergency. -Ensures that system and server-based applications run correctly. -Develops and maintains effective application and file sharing and networked printing. -Provides and maintains up-to-date documentation of Unix/Linux systems, server configurations, administrative tools and procedures for implementation/adaptation of products and services. REQUIRED Specific Knowledge/Skills: Education: -BSCS, BSCE, BSSoftE and/or equivalent education or knowledge. REQUIRED Experience: -Specific Knowledge and Extensive experience with Unix/Linux system administration, preferably within an Electronic Design Automation (EDA) environment. -In-depth knowledge of RedHat Linux required. RHCE desired.
