·        The role of a Data Architect is responsible for one or more data
domains and ensures consistency in the maintenance and usage of the data.
They are usually involved in projects that need to use or update that data.
The Data Architect focuses on data architecture plans and front-end loaded
development activities (requirements and high-level design).

·        The Data Architect needs to be able to have an end-to-end vision,
and to see how a logical design will translate into one or more physical
Databases, and how the Data will flow through the successive Stages
involved. He (or she) will need to be able to address issues of Data
Migration (Validation, Clean-up and Mapping).



*Responsibilities*

·        Designing, developing, and implementing of data

·        Working with the Data Definition Owner to develop the conceptual
model

·        Developing and validating logical and physical data models to
ensure that all business requirements are supported

·        Maintaining knowledge of data stores and how applications and
services operate on them

·        Identifying and enabling opportunities for data shareability and
maintaining focus on data shareability and data quality with all data
owners.

·        Maximizes reuse of existing and creation of shareable solution
components.

·        Ensures that all responsibilities of the role are done in
accordance with agreements among the stakeholders about common elements.

·        Leverages Upstream Architecture when designing specific projects
and solutions.

·        Gives input to other data owner roles about attributes identified
as common elements that are key for the solution being developed

·        Collaborates with Information Architect on logical data models and
designs physical data and metadata models required in support of the
business architecture

·        Partners with the Enterprise Information Architecture function and
the Opco/Business Function Architects to ensure alignment

·        Designing data access in conjunction with Enterprise Architects
works closely with the other data owner roles, especially Data Definition
Owners

·        Responsible for identifying opportunities to move the organization
toward common, shared, and consistent information resources to enable
configuration driven solutions which expedite BU deployment and broaden
global i-field™ solution adoption

·        Designs Master Data Management (MDM) data stores as determined by
MDM needs assessment; designs data lineage and maintains information
metadata

·        Determines data integration and transformation requirements for
moving data between applications; ensures interoperability of applications
with database and data warehouse/data mart environments

·        Identifies, quantifies, and proposes solutions to address data
integrity and data quality issues.  This includes understanding business
processes as they relate to data quality rules and business intelligence
needs, performing source data analysis and data profiling to assess initial
data quality

·        Ensures architecture of application software, data and delivery
tools comply with client's architecture and information standards.

·        Accountable for all data architectural documents associated to
assigned solution.  Documents must be in a complaint / ready state to guide
development and assess the “as built” delivered solution against design



*Deliverables: *

·        Develop solutions that align with Upstream / BU function
strategies, plans, and value drivers.  Solutions must achieve what is best
for client's across the enterprise, business units and employees.

·        Develop applications and systems that support the business
processes and address their interdependencies.  Coordinates with business
partners and IT resources to identify appropriate technology solutions
which are aligned with all aspects of the Upstream Architecture (Business
Map & Business Information Models).

·        Analyze source system data, and create and maintain up-to-date
source-to-target mapping with clear transformation rules.

·        Create Data Model (ERD) for the project and also maintain an
integrated CIM model

·        Design Data Quality principles into data modeling by specifying
database RI constraints

·        Design project Data Architecture approach and strategy (ETL, BI,
etc.)

·        Ensure alignment with CNAP and MCBU organization’s standards

·        Design and develop Master Data and fully understand the role of
MDM

·        Design data integrity resolution alternatives

·        Design project data cache and/or data mart (Snowflake / Star
Schema)

·        Validate and reconcile source to target data discrepancies

·        Insure data architecture recommended is compatible with and
support a service oriented approach (e.g., SOA compliant)



*Skills *

·        Demonstrated knowledge of Upstream in one or more of the following
domains (Field Operations, Production Management, Reservoir Management,
Field Development or Drilling & Completions).

·        Demonstrated & recognized as architecture practitioner in the
Upstream business

·        Demonstrated knowledge of Upstream Architecture Process &
Methodology

·        Demonstrated ability to work effectively on teams, respecting
others' opinions, valuing diversity, building consensus and assisting
others to accomplish team goals and objectives

·        Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal

·        Must be a team player and able to work with and through others.
Ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization

·        Strong desire to establish Standards of Best Practice

·        Ability to write & understand SQL script in Oracle and SQL Server
environment and knowledge of ANSI SQL in general

·        Ability to write & understand DB programming language such as
PL/SQL, SQL Server Scripting

·        Ability to use the database interface tools such as TOAD,
SQL*Plus, SQL Server Management Studio

·        Ability to design and query Analytic services

·        Technical Skills -Advanced knowledge of data warehousing
philosophies (e.g. Inmon & Kimball) Proficient knowledge of service
oriented architecture towards data/information as a service concept.
Advanced skills with the Microsoft/ Oracle Data Management and Business
Intelligence platform and tools. Knowledge on ETL, especially SSIS.
Advanced knowledge of strategies for data integration. Advanced skills with
at least one leading data modeling CASE tool such as Embarcadero ER Studio,
ERWin, UML Tools

·        Understand Data Architecture concept in decoupling



*Required Qualifications:*

·        Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Management Information Systems,
Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related
discipline

·        A minimum of 2 years experience in an Data Architect involving Oil
and Gas domain, and overall 8 years in Data Warehouse and Business
Intelligence solutions

·        Possess the blended ability of understanding business/operational
know-how, as well as technology know-how

·        Demonstrated experience with large-scale business solution
lifecycle
