Must have excellent communication skills This resource will primarily be tasked with performing SQL Server Database planning and operational activities for client including, but not limited to the following: Assist with developing the SQL Server transition plan for central office (CO) Oracle databases Assist with developing SQL Server administration procedures Run SQL Server Migration Assistant with all CO Oracle databases to gather metrics about what it would take to convert Assist with developing a plan to transition the District Oracle databases to SQL Server (based on the input from the Microsoft/Scalability Experts work) Implement SQL Server databases according to data models and specifications Conduct SQL reviews on SQL Server databases Document the existing SQL Server databases and procedures Assist with training/mentoring DBAT staff with SQL Server Look at SQL Server Reporting Services as a possible end-user reporting alternative to WEBFOCUS (R&D only) This resource may also be required to perform other SQL Server Database activities as requested. The candidates considered for this position must be capable of independent work success, have good communication skills, and disciplined to follow client processes and procedures. The candidate must be able to hit the ground running in a minimal amount of time. EXPERT SQL SERVER DBA Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of relational database management systems Ability to work independently in the technical analysis, evaluation and resolution of large Enterprise database production issues or problems, with little or no assistance, and to make decisions and recommendations to remediate those issues or problems Knowledge of Relational Database Management principles, design and practices Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments for him/herself or lower level database analysts. Skill in accurately estimating time requirements for database analysis and administration tasks for a project Skill in customer service Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, to build efficient, long term solutions in the development of databases utilizing all established departmental standards Ability to analyze processes and workflows to design efficient database solutions Ability to prepare complex database specifications Ability to design SQL Server databases Skill in database administration of SQL Server Databases Ability to develop transition/migration plans Skill in interpreting and communicating technical information related to computer programming and data processing, both verbally and in writing Ability to develop and manage SQL Server databases in accordance with the Department’s standards Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective work relationships with others * ** *--------------------------------------------- Sam Riley| Staffing Manager Consulting Knights, Inc.
