Sr. Infrastructure Engineer / Middleware Administrator with Monitoring experience in Walnut Creek CA

Description: Position Summary:
· Provide expertise for design and support of Middleware systems running in the TPMG environment (Jboss, Tomcat, WSO2, Windows and Linux). Responsible for planning and designing Monitoring Solutions for Applications and Middleware components using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), including installation and upgrades, structure, documentation, 24x7 operational support, process maintenance and security/data protection. Provide guidance in the development of monitoring solutions with business, architecture group, and solution teams. Ensure the seamless integration and synchronization of monitoring solutions with business applications, security, and infrastructure technologies. Lead the implementation of monitoring solution into new/incoming technology projects to production; manage integrated monitoring systems for system availability, administration, operational processes, and best practices across the enterprise. · Responsible for team leadership on monitoring applications/systems support, design, planning, implementation, functional testing, troubleshooting, and protection of TPMG corporate assets. Involves proactive monitoring of equipment and systems to support both existing and new applications. May include security/performance monitoring, configuration management, issue escalation and resolution, systems engineering, administration, security documentation, and strategic technical planning.
Key Accountabilities: Responsibilities:
· Responsible for monitoring solutions for applications on a variety of servers/operating systems. Perform operational support including security management, scheduling, error recovery, patching, upgrading, monitoring, change and incident management. Work closely with Architects, Developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers.
· Monitoring, help maintaining and performance tuning middleware systems
· Building and maintaining simple to complex monitoring solution of applications and Middleware systems environments both in standalone and virtual environments on UNIX , Linux and Windows Platforms · Proactive monitoring and fine tuning very large systems and using tools like VMware vFabric Hyperic, System Center 2012 - Operations Manager and scripting · Documenting all of the technical phases of the monitoring system including installation/configuration, environment variables, scheduled jobs, important file systems, maintenance history and upgrades · Assist in performing root cause analysis and resolution for all middleware system issues and supporting associated application issues as necessary. o Lead technology role to the applications and systems monitoring team servicing medium to large installations. O Overall responsibility for the management of monitoring assets including engineering, specification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to meet aggressive SLA's. o Responsibilities include more than one of the following engineering disciplines; Database and Middleware Monitoring, capacity planning, performance engineering, coupled with proposing enhancements to the architecture and supporting deployment efforts.
o Develops and follows agreed standards of system support
o Assist in developing and support / enforce reference architecture and usage patterns for Middleware engineering. o Required to understand and work with internal customers, and to develop application monitoring requirements during scope definition phases of all projects. o Work with business requirements to develop technical solutions during solutions design phase. Represent the interests/perspective of the Monitoring team. o Provide expertise to project managers to understand project priorities and help sequence implementations and modifications accordingly. o Communicate within project teams to set deliverables and expectations (time/resource requirements).
o Recognize, identify, and communicate risks during course of projects
o Work with Solution Delivery Teams to implement monitoring plans; ensure the resolution and communication of cross-application/organization testing issues and decisions. o Liaison with other IT groups; implement the design and development of monitoring solutions using the detailed business requirements document provided by the business analysts. o Work with Professional Services to manage the relationship with internal and external services vendors to ensure superior service delivery for all monitoring work. Build vendor relations as appropriate.
Experience and Education:
· College degree in related technical/business or equivalent work experience · Requires 8-10 years of related experience in middleware and development and implementation of monitoring solutions · Must have extensive hands-on experience in Jboss, Tomcat, Apache, WSO2, Windows and RedHat Linux environment. WSO2 certification is a plus · Must have working knowledge on monitoring tools System Center 2012 - Operations Manager. VMware vFabric Hyperic experience is a plus
·  Must have working knowledge of virtual server (VMWARE) environment
· Hands-on experience in SQL Server Database, SQLFire and RabbitMQ is a plus · Must be able to analyze raw results, determine/resolve bottlenecks, and create meaningful documentation of testing scenarios and results · Troubleshooting experience pertaining to forms of monitoring systems configuration, security, middleware and application issues. · Experience with medium to large sized technical projects, with demonstrated oral and written ability to communicate with team members. Must know when to ask for assistance, and when to give assistance. Must be approachable, teachable, a team player with a strong desire to improve the operational efficiency of our organizations integration management infrastructure. · Willingness to work beyond core business hours, if necessary to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned system modifications.
· Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
· Ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver technology projects on time and within budget, following SDLC standards. · Knowledge of sourcing methodologies, operating models and working with professional services firms.
