There are approximately ~3000 DEP PC's and laptops in use. To enable the Office of Information Resources Management (OIRM) to maintain support and deployment of existing computing services, along with this large undertaking of migrating ~3000 PC's additional temporary expert resources are necessary. Due to the uniqueness of each program's use of specialized software, (i.e.Fish & Wildlife vs. Radiation) all specialized software must be identified, vetted for security, licensing and proper use. This task in itself requires speaking with each Program Lead and ascertaining software needs, to ensure the software is built into the new PC configuration and minimizes business disruption. The migration consists of using several automated tools to assist with upgrades (existing PC's) and installations (new PC's), such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Users State Migration Tool (UMT), Windows Easy Transfer (WET) utility, and Viewfinity Privilege Manager software.
