This is a critical opening. It is a 4-month contract-to-hire. Must be able to convert after 4 months with no fee. (They will transfer an H-1). Linux Architect with AIX experience 4 Months CTH (EAD, GC or USC) Las Vegas, NV *Technology:* AIX and LINUX – emphasis on Red HAT ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provide project leadership in all phases of systems design, development and support. Prepare high-level project estimates for business case analysis. Prepare strategic plans, task development, estimates, work plans, project working papers, project schedules and reports for management. Provide quality assurance and leadership in solving system problems and designing system enhancements. - Establish standards for area of responsibility. Develop and execute strategic plan for area of responsibility. - Understand key cost elements related to the delivery of projects, products, or systems. Seek methods to optimize performance, reduce costs and improve service levels. Formulate systems scope and objectives; provide high level estimates on complex systems and present to management. - Manage technical issues of multiple concurrent modifications to a single set of programs. Certify projects meet standards for design, programming, technical documentation, and change management requirements. Act as technical mentor to matrixed employees and co-workers. This is the highest purely technical role possible within Information Technology. - Lead in key project deliverables; provide proactive consulting to all development and support teams. Help articulate and support key architectural and technical objectives through project teams and provide a focused, accessible body of knowledge and historical/directional perspective on various IT systems and resources. - Evangelize key strategic IT initiatives inside and outside HET. Proactively track and evaluation new technologies and initiatives. - Provide strategic functional direction, project leadership, system analysis, and design to solve complex business problems. Complexity includes working with integrated applications on all platforms includingAS/400, UNIX, and Wintel, and requires expert knowledge and understanding of system design, enterprise data management, existing systems, business requirements, software architecture, and all supporting integrations. - Provide functional leadership within the I.T. Team to ensure that complex implementations and integrations of databases, systems, operating systems, networks, and vendor software are successful and tested end-to-end. Provide leadership support for problem resolution. - Provide consulting services to senior management for the alignment of business needs with IT systems and business strategy. Assists senior and middle management to ensure that ongoing operations meet their expectations and business objectives. - Provide functional/technical consulting and support to the I.T. Team to identify any supportability or security risks, data or program integrity issues. Assist in the development of solutions to control access and ensure data and program integrity. Direct the development of documentation of application architectures and designs to assist future analysts in understanding work solutions. - Stay abreast of new technology developments. Maintain expert knowledge on in-house systems, appropriate vendor systems, product performance, viability and pricing. Seen as an expert both internally and externally. Analyze and evaluate complex application designs for compatibility with existing systems, and compliance to the company’s and known industry standards, and consistency with the company’s long-term business needs, strategies and policies. - Direct the development of complex functional design work to build software architectures to support business requirements and business strategy. Perform functional system design across heterogeneous systems company wide. Research technical/functional solutions and products as part of designing systems and identifying solutions to technical/functional issues. - Ensure that applications, systems and functions are properly designed, equipped and configured to yield maximum use of information and function without replication of information and function across platforms, and comply with the company’s standards. - Responsible for the development of comprehensive change management policies for the most complex, integrated systems. - Has an in-depth knowledge of the business value of technology and can communicate it both within and outside IT. - Act as a subject matter expert (SME) across a variety of functions and organizations. - Plan and manage a large team and multiple projects (8+). - Establish goals/objectives for the department and/or project and accurately estimates resources required to complete tasks and objectives. - Foresee resource requirements and analyze/mitigate associated risk at the department/project or organization level. Adapt organizational plans based on project situations and challenges Set departmental or organizational deadlines and have a process to follow-up on and drive to completion - Create accurate estimates on large, complex projects to an acceptable variance level based upon the detail of scope known, clearly documenting assumptions. - Has an in-depth knowledge of business functionality and technical architecture that delivers solutions. - Has an in-depth knowledge of applications at the enterprise level and how they play into all the business process flows. Also must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all other interfaces within a given application. - Directly responsible for preparing high-level design, development, and technical deployment strategy documentation. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE - In-depth knowledge of the company’s business processes, systems platforms and infrastructure architecture. Develops and trains internal staff on business processes. - Stay current with future design, development, and functional trends by attending relevant educational courses, seminars, and conferences. Maintain in-depth knowledge on appropriate business functionality and software design/development methodologies. Share knowledge with management, peers and co-workers to maintain the company’s leadership position in the IT community. - In-depth knowledge of project control and project management techniques, including development of detail project plans and techniques for management and follow-up. In-depth knowledge of structured programming and design techniques; thorough understanding of database design and applications. - Experience in real-time systems and mission-critical systems required. High degree of knowledge of the company’s systems and organization. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and direction. Ability to either work independently or provide a leadership role as the projects dictate. - Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, consulting skills and the ability to make recommendations, provide assistance or help with planning from a basis of personal expertise where no formal or direct reporting relationship exists. Speaks effectively and clearly with the ability to influence others in both positive and negative circumstances and produce the best outcome. Ability to negotiate successfully with vendors to secure the most favorable terms for the company - Ability to provide direction, leadership and guidance to peers, management and co-workers. Excellent communication and presentation skills required. 10-15 years experience, with a proven track record in project leadership, project management, structured programming, database design, systems analysis and design, change management, and user management, in an environment of multiple, complex, inter-related systems.
