Title: Sr. Database Admin (Oracle, SQL, Teradata) 
Location: Richmond, VA {local}
Expected Duration: 12 months 
Rate:$42 Corp to Corp 



Responsible for the design, development and administration of transactional
and analytical data constructs/structures. Included within those
responsibilities are the areas of data access and delivery technologies.
Includes Oracle, Teradata. DB2, SQL Server, and DMS II.  Duties include
performance tuning, monitoring, software installs and upgrades, UNIX shell
scripting, and physical and logical database design.  Some Oracle and
Teradata databases are very large, with a minimum size of 500 GB and 1000
users. Familiarity with ETL Tools like Ab Initio, DataStage, Informatica,
etc. Familiarity with Web Applications 
Hands on experience with Microsoft Windows XP or higher version.  Hands on
experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel. 

Work Experience :


3+ years Financial Services Experience 
Knowledge of other Oracle advanced features (RMAN, RAC, fail over
methodologies) 
Familiarity with other data bases, ETL tools, web applications and or other
programming languages 
Develops advanced domain specific technology solutions and guides their
development into a final product 
ETL experience in implementation and design 
Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels (Executive
Sponsors to team members). 

DBA will be responsible for activities that relate directly to supporting
the application environments within a database.  This includes (but is not
limited to): 
. Database object maintenance 
. Physical data model definition, design and implementation 
. DDL maintenance - Includes table/index/etc. maintenance in QA and
production 
. Support for test and/or development environments 
. Database access methods, backups, monitoring and tuning 
. Includes working with applications to obtain optimal data access 
. Database application performance monitoring and tuning 
. Database application level security 
. Database application capacity planning 
. Includes sizing objects and projecting tablespace needs based on
application requirements 
. Database application standards 
. Creation and maintenance of Application database standards 
. Adherence to standards 
. Production support for application database issues 

Qualifications 
============== 
. Over 5 years of Database Administration experience on the following
platforms: Oracle & SQLServer 
. Working knowledge of MySQL and Teradata Preferred 
. Strong scripting skills (Unix Shell, PERL, Windows) 
. Strong Knowledge of Technical Infrastructure and its interdependencies 
. Good knowledge of Application Infrastructure and its interdependencies 
. Demonstrate a high degree of analytical skills to be able to restore
service as quickly as possible. 
. Contributes overall strategic vision and integrates a broad ranges of
ideas regarding support issues. 
. Undertake complex projects requiring additional specialized technical
knowledge. 
. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous administrative
and support issues. 
. Coordinates with associates to determine requirements. 
. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and
