SKILLS >> M ust possess strong team problem solving capability - demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal Determine the appropriate database technology (eg., relational, extended relational, Dimensional, object database). Application modeling languages and tools (e.g., UML, OML, entity-relationship modeling) must have the ability to read and implement the associated diagrams. Must be able to provide design options, alternatives and recommendations based on experience and best practices for database design. Experience with tools such as ER STUDIO, ERWIN or equivalent modeling tool is necessary. Must exhibit experience designing redundant and fault tolerant architectures for high volume OLTP and batch systems. Strong relational and dimensional data-modeling skills. Experience designing and developing new databases and schemas is a must. Solid database administration skills on 10gR2 RAC, ASM in Linux and/or Solaris environments a MUST. Database performance monitoring and tuning skills, SQL tuning, at both logical and system level; OEM AWR/ADDM/GRID a must. Production support required. JOB TITLE >> Sr. Database Engineer - Architect DUTIES >> The candidate will be required to work autonomously and to demonstrate initiative. This is a business customer facing role so strong communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot and rapidly resolve issues is essential. Rely on experience and judgement to accomplish goals. Will at times play a lead DBA role and direct the work of others. The candidate must have the ability to do database architectecture and physical design from several aspects: physical data model, database infrastructure requirements, product integration requirements as well as installation of new servers/databases to meet expectations and requirements of the business.Proven experience working as a database engineer and database administrator with database design, database infrastructure design and coding responsibilities within the OS and Database. Ability to understand application code techniques (VB, C#, .Net, Java) in order to support application customers on end to end connectivity, problem resolution and performance and tuning. Ability to work closely with other engineers, architects and management to translate requirements into database design, DB infrastructure design and product requirements, including new services required to support and maintain the environment. Optimize database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for business applications and backup processes. Takes ownership of database implementation from schema design, physical modeling through implementation. Plan and install upgrades of database management system software as necessary to enhance database performance with the application requirements in mind, security, and minimized downtime. Research various hardware and software products; recommend solutions and implement approved products as required by requirements and research and development efforts. Provide designs that ensure overall system scalability, security, performance and reliability. Produce complete formal documentation covering all aspects of Database and Database infrastructure design and implementation – plans, testing scripts, requirements doc, backup & recovery, ILM strategies, schema design, security design, audit and encryption.
