Client is looking for a very strong hands-on "Senior Oracle Database Engineer/Architect" & Great communicator! Note - This is a customer facing position, so communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot and rapidly resolve issues is essential. Key - Senior person that can engage up front on complex project efforts, drive out requirements, design a solution to meet and then be the implementor, filling in with hands on DBA work in between projects. This is a backfill position for my new team. JOB TITLE >> Sr. Database Engineer - Architect DUTIES >> The candidate will be required to work autonomously and to demonstrate initiative. This is a business customer facing role so strong communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot and rapidly resolve issues is essential. Rely on experience and judgement to accomplish goals. Will at times play a lead DBA role and direct the work of others. The candidate must have the ability to do database architectecture and physical design from several aspects: physical data model, database infrastructure requirements, product integration requirements as well as installation of new servers/databases to meet expectations and requirements of the business.Proven experience working as a database engineer and database administrator with database design, database infrastructure design and coding responsibilities within the OS and Database. Ability to understand application code techniques (VB, C#, .Net, Java) in order to support application customers on end to end connectivity, problem resolution and performance and tuning. Ability to work closely with other engineers, architects and management to translate requirements into database design, DB infrastructure design and product requirements, including new services required to support and maintain the environment. Optimize database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for business applications and backup processes. Takes ownership of database implementation from schema design, physical modeling through implementation. Plan and install upgrades of database management system software as necessary to enhance database performance with the application requirements in mind, security, and minimized downtime. Research various hardware and software products; recommend solutions and implement approved products as required by requirements and research and development efforts. Provide designs that ensure overall system scalability, security, performance and reliability. Produce complete formal documentation covering all aspects of Database and Database infrastructure design and implementation – plans, testing scripts, requirements doc, backup & recovery, ILM strategies, schema design, security design, audit and encryption. Show alternatives and solutions based all aspects of requirements, risks and cost. SKILLS >> Senior knowledge and experience with database standard concepts, practices and procedures. The candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and oral skills, excellent documentation skills; Excellent proven technical project management, issue management and risk management skills. Ability to track these items within a large scale and communicate to diverse groups accordingly. Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision Perform database capacity planning Determine the appropriate database technology (eg., relational, extended relational, Dimensional, object database). Work with Engineers to determine where the databases will reside in multi-tier distributed/shared applications – comparing hardware/infrastructure alternatives in conjunction with cost, use, growth, supportability, etc. Work with Data Modelers to produce logical and physical data models and schemas-Collaborate with the application teams and others to support development of store procedures, indexes, user-defined functions and views to maximize query performance Define database authorization rules Perform Security Audit Perform platform assessment regarding proper support for the selected databases. - -Application modeling languages and tools (e.g., UML, OML, entity-relationship modeling) must have the ability to read and implement the associated diagrams. -Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously -Must possess strong team problem solving capability -Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal • Collaborate with application architects, product managers, business analysts and technical management team to design, develop and document databases, schemas, tables, functions, triggers, procedures, relationships and other necessary aspects of the database. • Design and develop complex data models from high level business requirements. Must be able to provide design options, alternatives and recommendations based on experience and best practices for database design. Experience with tools such as ER STUDIO, ERWIN or equivalent modeling tool is necessary. • Experience coding high performing Oracle PL/SQL procedures to guide application areas in both OLTP and batch operations. Must exhibit deep understanding and experience in database and PL/SQL tuning at both logical and system levels. • Develop high performing offline processes to bulk load data into Oracle, including use of SQL Loader. • Design and implement logical database architecture. Must exhibit experience designing redundant and fault tolerant architectures for high volume OLTP and batch systems. • Design and develop Information Life Cycle strategies (ILM) and ensure data integrity. Experience implementing data replication and locking strategies across parallel database infrastructures is desired. Proficient in Oracle RAC and database partitioning design and implementation. • Design and Develop monitoring tools to report and alert on significant application and system level events in Oracle using OEM. • Establish standards for documentation and ensure that all designs are documented. Requirements • Must have hands-on Oracle 10gR2 experience with latest tuning and optimization techniques • Strong relational and dimensional data-modeling skills. Experience designing and developing new databases and schemas is a must. • Proven Oracle performance engineering & tuning skills. • Solid database administration skills on 10g RAC, ASM in Linux and/or Solaris environments a MUST. • Database performance monitoring and tuning skills, SQL tuning. OEM AWR/ADDM/GRID a must. • Excellent PL/SQL and SQL PLUS Development skills. the ability to share knowledge with the team; ability to work well with other engineering and architecture groups (network, storage, client services, developers, OS, etc.) for the proper design and implementation; ability to work with vendors. SQL and Stored-Prodcedure tuning. Production support required.
