Sr Data Base Administrator JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Task # Problem
Resolution/Support - executes day to day maintenance tasks including
problem determination and resolution, system upgrades, rollouts,
infrastructure deployment and upgrades, as well as root-cause
analysis. # Standards Development/Definition – participates in the
development and continual refinement of standards and best practices
for the production environment based on the needs of the supported
business units. Participates in the continual refinement of processes
and policies to ensure the highest possible performance and
availability of our systems. # Drives continuous improvement in
service delivery quality with an emphasis on performance,
availability, and customer service. # Documentation and Training -
provides and maintains documentation of systems architecture,
troubleshooting and support guidelines, system metrics, project
information and plans, and helps in providing training information for
both Database Services and Service Operations Center staff. # Mentors
new or less experienced staff on an as-needed basis. # Technology and
Architecture – Participates in architecture and infrastructure plans
in conjunction with the supported business unit technical staff. Works
with staff to help develop and implement technical plans for
integration into the DIMG data center environment. # Vendor
Relationships – Maintain active interaction with our core vendors to
deliver the best of breed services possible for DIMG and drive
efficiencies for our customers # Project Management – contributes to
and co-develops project plans in conjunction with other teams and SE
members related to the release of new DB products, releases, and
upgrades. Ensures proper project execution and communication; acts as
a primary point of escalation, drives completion of milestones.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION # Degree in computer science/information
systems, engineering or related field preferred; or a corresponding
number of years experience in technical operations or software
engineering. # 5 or more years of experience with enterprise
relational database management systems # 2-4 years experience with
Windows or Linux Server platforms # 2 or more years of IT operational
experience supporting robust e-commerce or Online Businesses in a 24X7
production environment # Expertise in enterprise database
administration principals including configuration, implementation,
data modeling, maintenance, redundancy/HA, security, troubleshooting/
performance tuning, upgrades, database, data and server migrations,
TSQL/PL-SQL, and OEM/EM proficiency. # Expertise in configuring,
implementing and supporting high availability redundancy strategies on
systems including clustering, log shipping, mirroring, and data
replication processes. # Expertise with Disaster Recovery planning and
implementation. # Experience with planning and implementation of
enterprise storage solutions including SAN/NAS. # Experience with
Windows OS system administration, configuration, troubleshooting,
performance tuning, preventative maintenance, and security procedures;
experience with Linux/Unix desired. # Excellent knowledge of hardware,
storage, RAID, and disk subsystems technologies as they pertain to
DBMS systems, experience with SAN technologies highly desired #
Excellent systems documentation and architecture diagram skills #
Experience with project management methologies and handling complex
projects. # Ability to partner with relevant hardware and software
vendors to determine near-term, long-term business impacts of product
updates on our technology portfolio. # Troubleshoot and perform
accurate root-cause analysis for resolving problems that may have
multiple system dependencies. # Demonstrated experience with
troubleshooting systems issues and effectively diagnosing problems #
Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions and definition #
Experience with relevant scripting or programming languages (perl,
JavaScript, Python, C, Java, VB, etc) a plus. # Knowledge of
understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, FTP, SSH), general
networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity
troubleshooting # Familiarity with Enterprise backup systems
architecture

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED # Leads and completes tasks independently,
with attention to detail and while under pressure # Excellent
judgment, problem resolution, negotiation, and decision-making skills
as well as the ability to work under continual deadline pressure. #
Identifies, analyzes, and drives problems to resolution, handling
complex issues simultaneously while effectively communicating across
teams # Builds team relationships across the organization # Maintains
strong values of integrity, commitment, and self-improvement #
Effectively communicates technical actions, ensures audience
understands why/what/when work will be accomplished # Delivers
customer service excellence by knowing customer’s business needs,
identifying appropriate technical solutions, and meeting/exceeding
service expectations # Knowledge in 1 or more relavent areas including
but not limited to: IT Security, Enterprise Hardware systems,
Networking systems, Storage Area Networks, Data Warehouse/Business
Intellegence, Data Center Facilities, Ecommerce platforms are desired
