The *Senior DB2 DBA (10+ years)* must be proficient in performing IBM DB2 database and system administration on an IBM zSeries Mainframe, z/OS Operating system. The candidate will provide senior level expertise in the architecture, design, and implementation of highly available databases supporting enterprise business applications. There will be significant involvement with the applications programming staff to enhance design and prepare for DB2 upgrades. Experience and proficiency in database design, monitoring and problem analysis and resolution are a must. Candidate must provide project leadership for various initiatives in the database services group. This individual works with other technicians performing all internal activities related to DB2, vendor supplied system utilities, and custom processing applications. Experience with DB2 version upgrades, from both an applications and systems programming perspective, is an absolute must – especially V7 to V8, V9. Experience working with z/Websphere software and tool set is a plus. *DB2 DBA Essential Functions and Responsibilities* Data Base Administration: Possess Outstanding Performance and Tuning skills Performs logical and physical database designs, implements and supports new and existing tables. Monitors DB2 space usage and database performance. Performs database reorganizations as necessary. Evaluates the company technology environment such as: mainframe, client/server and web and recommends changes to the department manager on current and future system software requirements to meet the organization's needs. Establishes and meets service level agreements with internal departments. Insures system performance, redundancy, and fault tolerance. Maintains current disaster recovery plan for mainframe operating systems infrastructure including DB2, system utilities, and custom processing applications and participates in annual testing. Researches and assists the MIS Director in the preparation of the annual department budget. Monitors and make recommendations to management on established procedures for the mainframe, client server and web to maximize productivity and to minimize the occurrence of errors. Works with internal departments to understand current and future projects to insure the systems programming infrastructure is able to meet the demands of future growth. Other Responsibilities: Assist Director in the purchasing of hardware and software. Assist with vendor contract negotiations and maintains contracts with vendors. *Requirements:* 10+ years of expertise in the administration of DB2 databases. CICS administration a plus. 10+ years of expertise in relational database design and maintenance. 10+ years of expertise in the use of z/OS (MVS) and DB2 database utilities. In depth knowledge of systems development life cycle methodologies, project planning techniques, and project management principles, plus the ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, to staff and executive management. Ability to communicate effectively, lead projects and direct the work of others. College degree required. Consultants with minimum of 10-15 years of work experience in related technology are highly preferred. Immediate start date for the most qualified candidate.
