Title - Sr. Oracle/SQL DBA Location - Austin, TX 6 Months Summary of Responsibilities: Install, maintain, monitor, & optimize databases/applications on variety of systems. Key Skill Sets: RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, ASM, GoldenGate (preferred) Essential Job Function: * Perform database monitoring, tuning, &capacity planning Manage allocated disk space usage &memory allocations for Oracle and SQL Server database management systems. * Manage schema changes & implementation Administer Oracle & SQL Server security Perform housekeeping on defunct user accounts & historical data. * Install & maintain Oracle & SQL Server database products, including patch application & upgrade of environments Troubleshoot & develop solutions for problems related to Oracle & SQL Server databases & interfaces Coordinate w/ Oracle technical support Develop & execute back-up/recovery procedures. * Perform periodic testing of database backup/recovery plan Work closely w/ application & system administration & vendors to coordinate activities, resolve development & maintenance issues, and perform application tuning. * Audit user activity to ensure integrity & performance of database Adhere to established standards, policies, & procedures for database administration Coordinate & implement changes to development, test, & production environments. * Provide 24 x 7 on-call troubleshooting, problem resolution & carry a pager for this purpose. * Perform development & maintenance of Oracle on Unix and SQL Server on Windows platforms. * Implement & maintain multiple database environments, including logical/physical design and modeling Increase & maintain proficiency on database technology, methodologies, & concepts. * Develop & maintain high level computer skills in Oracle, SQL Server, Unix & Windows. * Develop & maintain high level database development & design skills. * Clearly communicate complex technical concepts verbally/writing. * Configuration Mgt. Technical Knowledge: * Enterprise level knowledge of data warehouse infrastructures & networks, business process, experience working w/ large data repositories (5TB or more). NOTE: on-call rotation 7x24.
