Job Description:
Q Analysts is looking for a Data Analyst for one of its clients located in
Portland, OR.
Duties:
a.. Client is seeking BI/Data Analysts with strong analytical and
demonstrated project coordination skills.
b.. This position requires someone willing to be a key contributor in
architecting the data management and Enterprise Data Warehouse related
projects.
c.. The individual must be comfortable adapting to a rapidly moving
client focus and must be adept at multitasking.
d.. They should be equally comfortable working independently or as a
principal participant in a small- to medium-sized team.
e.. Critical to the role is the ability to work with users to identify
options, and to define and then clearly capture business requirements.
f.. We are also looking for someone proficient in designing solutions,
and providing input into technical documentation.
g.. An ability to provide estimates and create/maintain project
schedules is needed, as is proficiency in developing, executing and managing
test cases and test plans.
h.. The individual in this position will:
a.. Gather, Assess and document business requirements. Work with PM
for priorities and due dates.
b.. Follow Kaiser CDP and SLCI development process for delivering
projects and documentation
c.. Interview people, follow leads, identify sources of data,
coordinate meetings with region/application and business, document all relevant
information about contacts and sources, escalate non-response, communicate
status with PM, complete application questionnaire as much as possible.
i.. Source System and Data Analysis:
a.. This includes analyzing systems configuration and components,
data models, data dictionary, inbound and outbound interfaces, data profiling
and quality, etc.
b.. This will involve working with many service teams (i.e. DBA, Data
Modeling, BI Development etc.) to determine best design taking into account
cost, timeframe, quality, resource constraints, maintenance, ease of use etc.
c.. This process will vary by application, by region.
d.. To the extent possible, reuse of code and process is advisable.
e.. Turn the requirements into functional and technical design
specifications.
f.. Work with ETL design and construct, DBA, Data Modeling,
Application Delivery on functional and technical design specifications.
g.. Work with BI Development team - BI design and construct, DBA,
Data Modeling.
h.. Test at each phase of development and test the final solution and
deliver the end product
Skills:
a.. 7+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in healthcare
sector that deals with complex health plan and care delivery data.
b.. Ability to design, Implement, and manage multiple Business
intelligence projects and effectively deal with a fast-paced and changing
environment.
c.. Strong knowledge of database concepts, BI Tools (BO, Cognos, SAS
etc.) project development life cycle, BI documentation
d.. Skillful in solving complex business related inquiries by breaking
them down into manageable components
e.. Strong communication skills and ability to bridge the divide
between business and technology teams.
f.. Proficient in designing solutions, providing input into technical
documentation, create/maintain project schedules and developing, executing and
managing test cases and test plans.
g.. Excellent communication, facilitation and negotiation abilities are
essential.
h.. Proficiency in RDBMS ( Oracle), SQL and knowledgeable in BI Toolset
i.. Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes
etc.
Education:
a.. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or an
equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Advanced degree
preferred.
