Senior UNIX Administrator
Contract: 3-6 months
Location: NYC
Client is seeking a Senior Unix Administrator who will be responsible for
monitoring, reporting system performance, deployment, configuration support,
troubleshooting, setting up new environments, migration from development to
QA and production, disaster recovery, and complying with the necessary
Unixsystem standards.
*They have to be able to lead to consolidate their RDS environment using
Sun virtualization technology ("zones"). *

- Must have Solaris 10.x and patching experience on 10.x
- Extensive experience create virtual zones.
- Harden Sun systems experience with common Solaris hardening tools such
as "JASS".
- Solid Korn Shell and C Programming must be strong
- Thorough knowledge of Sun, Veritas volume manager, server cluster SAN
and RAID technology 9 on Sun and VxVM, and clustering. 4 on SAN and RAID.
- Must have Storage Arrays: Hitachi HDS 9585, SUN StorEdge 6960, 6320,
D1000, A1000, A5000, T3
- WebSphere Application Server : SUN Solaris would be great but with
weblogics, apache, and tomcat (competitive products) would suffice
*Mandatory Skills: *
5 to 8 years of experience with Korn Shell and C Programming.
Minimum of 8 years experience with SUN Solaris.
Thorough knowledge of TCPIP, internetworking and DNS.
Experience and knowledge in systems design and structure techniques.
Experience & knowledge with writing shell scripts to monitor system
performance.
Thorough knowledge of Sun, Veritas volume manager, server cluster SAN and
RAID technology.

*Server Operating Systems:* SUN Solaris, Red Hat Linux, SCO and AIX a plus.
*Veritas:*Veritas Netback up (snap/checkpoint volume),Veritas Cluster
Server, Veritas File System,Veritas Cluster Volume Manager
*Tape Backup:*Veritas Netbackup Datacenter
SAN Media Server a plus
Vault Management with Storage L700 tape library a plus
*Languages:* Shell Programming and PERL a plus
*Storage Arrays:* Hitachi HDS 9585, SUN StorEdge 6960,6320, D1000, A1000,
A5000, T3
*Storage Area Networking:* Brocade Silkworm 3800 / 3900
*WebSphere Application Server:* SUN Solaris
