The role of the Oracle Applications Data Base Administrator is to deliver effective and efficient applications data base administration services in support of all users of MSD's Oracle ERP application systems. The role coordinates the resolution of critical service issues in accordance with established production service levels in the production, test and development environments. * *This position includes working closely with application team members and other IT staff members in providing support for Oracle software*.* * * *Duties and Responsibilities**:* * * - Perform activities in support of Oracle applications and databases including installation, upgrades, patches, data base cloning and backup and recovery services. - Involved with the support of the development and execution of quality assurance plans for unit, system, user and regression testing. - Plan for and perform Oracle application upgrades as needed. - Maintain / Support the multiple user interfaces used by Oracle applications such as HTML-based, Oracle Forms, and Business Intelligence. - Support (run, maintain and tune) Oracle Concurrent Processing in order to ensure peak application performance. - Provide assistance and input in initial setup, development, and maintenance of Oracle workflows - Troubleshoot and resolve application related issues either independently or with a team. - Support clustering and/or load management issues. *Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required * - Considerable knowledge and experience in Oracle 11g data administration tools and practices. - Strong Understanding of Oracle 11i applications including Financials (including Hyperion Essbase), Treasury, Supply Chain (incl. Order Management, Inventory, iProcurement), Projects, Human Capital Management, Grants Management and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite. - Experience as an Oracle Database Administrator including: installation, configuration, maintenance, data warehousing, database tuning, backups and integration with non-Oracle applications. - Experience with RMAN utility and RAC (Real Application Cluster) is a plus. - Strong understanding of VMWare sessions. - Experience with disaster recovery setup and implementation. - Understanding of and ability to interpret advanced SQL queries (loops, exceptions, declares), table views, constraints, stored procedures and the impact of executing them in the data base. - Knowledge of Single Sign On is a plus. - Knowledge of the water/wastewater industry or previous experience with industry systems. Experience with IBM's Maximo system (including MEA adapter) is a plus. - Understanding of information technology standards, procedures and best practices. - Understanding of and ability to analyze business problems and needs as well as to recommend appropriate information technology solutions. - Thorough understanding of and ability to apply system development methodologies. - Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of technical and business personnel. Participation in project team setting is very crucial. Also of critical importance is the ability to interact and mentor application developers as needed during project life cycle. - Experience architecting and maintaining information technology systems. - Experience using Microsoft Office software suite. - Experience participating in project teams. - Ability to analyze and assess business needs to recommend appropriate information technology solutions. - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with groups from diverse backgrounds and technical abilities. Willing and able to keep project manager informed of progress and status on a regular basis. - Ability to work independently, set priorities, work under pressure, adapt to demanding situations and maintain schedules.
