Decision Making:
Oracle DBA--prior fannie mae experience preferred
This position involves a considerable amount of decision making to shape the
direction of the components of the data architecture, including logical and
physical database design. Careful thought and analysis are required to
ensure an effective database design, in which usage patterns and data access
methods are quantified so that database performance is optimized. The
database referential integrity must be maintained at all times. The DBA must
take into consideration all these elements when design the physical database
or analyzing the database for performance and tuning enhancements.
May perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements --- Education/Experience/Skills:
A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Seven to ten years experience in information technology, with at least five
years of in-dept experience as a relational database administrator.

Knowledge of Fannie Mae’s internal business and Architecture and
Infrastructure
Knowledge of the relational database engine to the internals level, and
ability to apply this information in OLTP and DSS environments. Knowledge of
networking concepts, object oriented technology, data warehousing. Candidate
must have experience with systems development and support of
mission-critical databases. Financial system experience is preferred.
Experience with data manipulation mechanisms such as SQL, Stored Procedures,
Triggers is required. Experience in designing, building and managing large
data warehouse databases is required. Extensive experience in developing
database backup and recovery strategies, replication and performance tuning
is required. The incumbent should have experience working on UNIX platforms
and writing shell scripts.
Experience with consulting to internal and/or external clients, strong
project planning skills, and outstanding communication and negotiation
skills are essential to this position.
