Boston, MA 3+ months *ONLY LOCALS OR NEAR BY interview: PS+F2F * Job Description & Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and consultation with respect to the direction of Data Warehouse methodology and ETL solutions using Cognos 8.0 Business Intelligence suite. Provide leadership in establishing architectural guidelines, best practices and standards for Data Warehousing and more specifically ETL development. Analyze source data, complete source-to-target data maps and business-driven transformation rules. Design, development, and testing of Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) modules using Cognos Data Manager. Utilize Framework Manager to publish packages and create summary tables as needed to improve system performance and data retrieval. Populate and maintain technical metadata repositories and related documentation. Design, development and testing of data extract programs. Produce detailed design documents from high-level requirements and functional specifications. Qualifications: Required: Minimum 4-8 years experience in designing, developing and deploying data warehouses. Strong Experience with Cognos (8.3, 8.4) tools and methodologies Working knowledge of Cognos LDAP Security and Windows Active Directory. Strong knowledge of Dimensional Data Modeling Strong Report building expertise. Must have expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 including DTS and SSIS. Design, document and build physical database environments from table, column, index and view definitions to storage requirements and drive spacing and growth accommodations. Extensive experience in SQL programming including advanced queries, stored procedures and triggers in SQL Server environment. Knowledge of database internals, data structures and tuning strategies. Experience in creating Reports and Cubes using Cognos Report Studio and Analysis Studio. Experience with Modeling Tools – ERWin Ability to analyze problems, sort through complex issues, provide a comparative analysis of alternatives and solution recommendations. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively to management and peers, both written and verbal. Preferred: Experience working in a .Net (Microsoft) environment. Experience within a large urban K-12 education environment is a plus.
