This opening is a contract opportunity as a SAN Engineer. This person will be accountable for the daily operations of the storage infrastructure based on the strategies, policies, and procedures developed by the lead architect. They will be working with the architect to develop the storage strategies and ensure the infrastructure is a reliable platform for it's applications. They need to be self-motivated and require little daily supervision, and have the ability to manage large projects. SAN Engineer Job description This is a technical role and is accountable for the day to day operations of the storage infrastructure. Responsibilities include: a.. Deployment of storage infrastructure based on strategies, policies, and procedures developed by Lead Architect. b.. Good understanding of many Operating System platforms including Win2K, AIX, HPUX, Sun Solaris and SUSE Linux and how each performs in a NAS environment c.. Work with Architect to develop storage strategies in support of key Corporate goals. Insure that storage infrastructure is robust, reliable, and provides solid platform for applications. d.. Provide level 1 support to Production as required. e.. Minimum 2 to 5 years experience/understanding in SAN storage technologies including Hitachi, EMC and NetApp. f.. Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in all types of storage technologies including EMC, HDS, McDATA, Centera, Clariion and Cisco SAN Switches. Including EMC replication tools g.. Proficient understanding with EMC array configuration tools and software including ECC and Workload Analyzer. h.. Knowledge and understanding of disaster recovery methodologies and best practices. i.. Strong telecommunication technical background and experience. j.. Ability to manage large projects. k.. Solid PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL. l.. Self motivated and requires little day to day supervision. Must Have: - 3-5 years experience all types of storage technologies (EMC, HDS, McData, Centera, Clarion, and Cisco SAN Switches) - 2-5 years experience in SAN storage technologies, (EMC, Hitachi and NetApp) - EMC Replication tools experience - Level 1 support to production (they will be providing) - Understanding of operating system platforms (Windows 2000, AIX, HPUX, Sun Solaris, SUSE Linux) and how they perform in a NAS environment - Knowledge and understanding of disaster recovery methodologies and practices.
