SQL Server DBA Database Administrator Database Architect/Administrator (DBA) The database architect works closely with software development teams and the IT operations team to assist in the design and implementation of scalable database solutions based upon MySQL for an aggressively growing billing and back-office product utilized for internal operations as well as various clients. Responsibilities Design and? implement core database architecture strategies such as replication, failover, clustering, data partitioning and archiving Lead database platform design,? implementation, performance monitoring and performance tuning Define and? document global database development and implementation standards for software teams to follow and be measured against Utilize ERD tools to assist? multiple project teams in designing, creating and working with data models ? Aid software development teams in designing, implementing and debugging their software persistence layers Review SQL queries and assist with performance? tuning, both during development and in production Develop long term? capacity planning models for multiple applications based on current usage analysis and projected growth Implement tools and methodologies to manage? the database schema lifecycle of a continuously evolving system from development to production Perform code and design reviews to ensure compliance amongst? software development teams Interact with project managers to understand? project needs and build delivery plans to meet those needs Qualifications 3+ years of previous software development? experience in an OO language 5+ years designing and maintaining large? production databases containing over 100 tables on a prominent database platform 1+ years working with MySQL in a production environment,? preferably in a large-scale system 3+ years of designing data models and? XML schemas used in a production system Previous experience designing,? configuring and supporting high availability (24/7) environments for 500GB+ databases Strong background in Unix or Linux operating systems? ? Experience with data warehouse implementations desirable Experience in? multidimensional database design desirable Commitment to pursuing new? technologies and approaches to solve ever-increasing technical challenges ? Strong written and oral communication skills ? Demonstrate a strong track record as a team lead ? Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and solve issues. ? Possess good judgment, positive attitude and professional demeanor. ? Experienced with creating & maintaining very large & complex project work plans ? Dependable, with excellent organizational skills. ? Strong interpersonal skills, and be flexible in a dynamic team environment.
