*Sr. UNIX Systems Engineer*

*The Unix System Engineer would work with the Korean resources to implement
their service platform, terminal applications, billing system and CRM system
in the US. The platforms will run on a combination of Sun Solaris and
Oracle.
Day-to-day, the candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining
the high-availability 24/7 J2EE application. The candidate will be
responsible or will participate in all infrastructure initiatives within the
company that involve Solaris, WebLogic, Apache, SunONE, Oracle, SQL
Databases etc.
Candidate must be able to recommend and implement best practices for highly
available WebLogic environments. Strong hands-on knowledge of Solaris
systems administration including Veritas Volume Manager and EMC
Symmetrix/DMX SAN environment is a must. Candidate should also have
networking knowledge including load balancing tools/techniques.
>From a the project management side, the candidate should have good handle
over the requirements gathering, designing, planning, presentation,
documentation, communication and implementation with resource management and
expectation management ability to work with senior executives, directors,
managers and technical staff (engineers, developers etc).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Application Support/Problem Management
o Respond to tickets that come into our ticketing system
o Troubleshoot hardware, software application and data center assets
o Develop/maintain operational tools/scripts used to monitor application and
system processing.
o Performance monitoring/reporting
o Performance Tuning of hardware/software/apps
o Implement Backup and Recovery process and technology.
o System Availability / System Capacity Planning
o Installation and support of Software/Hardware.
o Installation of OS upgrades/fixes
o Vendor release upgrades and conversions (includes maintenance, patches,
enhancements)
o Hardware upgrades.
o Responsible for storage management technologies (i.e. EMC NAS/SAN)
o Perform security/disaster recovery planning, implementation, testing.
o Maintain and improve a highly refined Jumpstart Process
o Maintenance of UNIX Practices
o Develop and enforce Information Security
o Review and implement security alerts.
o Recommend and implement Security Requirements*

QUALIFICATIONS:

*B.S. Computer Science + 7-10 years Enterprise Unix engineer experience
required. WebLogic certified Administrator certification a plus. Candidate
must have the ability to complete tasks with very little supervision and
superb ability to work well with others in a team environment. Candidate
must participate in 24/7 on-call rotation which includes being available to
assist with issues even when not on call.
REQUIRED PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE:
Experience/knowledge of BEA Weblogic, Solaris 9 and 10, SunOne and Sun
Cluster (configuring and maintaining) on Enterprise-Class Sun hardware;
Veritas (Netbackup, VxVM, VxFS, QIO ); EMC (SAN, NAS, Power Path), Apache,*


REQUIRED SKILLS:
*- Strong UNIX and Linux background (including kernel configuration
capabilities)
- Strong shell and perl scripting
- Strong understanding of core TCP/IP protocols
- Basic understanding of Oracle and Oracle components (i.e. 9i, 10G, etc.)
- Performance tuning and capacity planning fundamentals for Enterprise Unix
- Understanding of security best practices
- Familiar with Sarbanes Oxley process, procedures, and requirements
- Experience with Cisco and overall network architecture components.
