Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Minimum 5 years experience with verifiable skills on DB2 - certifications in recent releases preferred. Exceptional problem solving skills. Strong communication skills. Scripting languages and strong knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of DB2 V8.2, V9.x. Knowledge of UNIX - AIX, Solaris, Linux Knowledge of with DB2 Clusters, Veritas (VVR, Clusterware), IBM jfs2. Knowledge of DB2 backups. Knowledge of UNIX shells - Korn shell, bash, Perl. Strong SQL skills. Ability to code and recompile packages and code functions and procedures preferred. Experience in tuning SQL code. Expertise in backup/recovery/fail-over methods and best practices. Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals. Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed. Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development.
