Database Application Specialist Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline such as Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, Engineering or an equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience. Job Requirements: The successful candidate will typically possess five or more years of experience in developing database-driven applications, including collecting and defining requirements, data modeling, designing database and UI elements, writing backend code, system testing, and creating technical documentation and user manual. Experience in designing relational databases and expert/advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access design. Knowledge and experience in programming in Visual Basic (or equivalent language). Experience developing SAS code to retrieve data and perform statistical analysis. Experience developing and using SQL to retrieve data and generate reports; Ability to understand and appropriately respond to clients' business needs. Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Preferred Skills: Experience with Lotus/Domino Programming, Web Design and Programming. Typical Responsibilities: The position is responsible for creating, maintaining, enhancing, documenting, and providing training on business-specific software tools, applications, and databases. Typical responsibilities include: Developing new and modifying existing of; administering including: version control, archive, inventory and database security; responding to user trouble calls by providing recommendations and/or implementing fixes; creating technical documentation and user manuals for UDAs; providing training as necessary for new users and for existing users. May include or commercial applications; responsible for energy forecasts monitoring/ tuning to achieve continuous improvement; supporting development and modification of SAS programs used for data mining and analysis; maintaining department's external and internal websites; supporting company's renewable energy credit system; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
