Database Administrator Scope Statement The Database Administrator plans, builds and supports computer systems databases in a high availability, secure, mission critical environment. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives and works under the general supervision of the Manager, IT Technical Infrastructure. Impact Statement * Executes maintenance and ensures availability of production databases critical to meeting business needs on an ongoing basis * Provides expertise and experience on data related subjects to ensure the delivery of projects that meet business requirements Responsibilities Include * Maintains the corporate development and production databases; provides performance tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting * Defines, designs and implements new and existing database structures, environments and platforms * Plans for and manages preventative maintenance and upgrades * Develops backup and recovery procedures; participates in back-up and disaster recovery planning and implementation * Leads data related projects and resolves database related technical issues where appropriate * Builds and maintains relevant technical documentation * Monitors exception/alert reporting for database processes * Monitors and forecasts database growth * Monitors and enhances data security/user access model for all databases * Works closely with the enterprise data architect to define and promote an effective data architecture Knowledge / Experience / Certification * 5 * 8 years work experience in database administration * Work experience installing, maintaining, operating, tuning and troubleshooting complex databases in a heterogeneous complex environment * Work experience with DB2, Sybase and/or SQL Server, UNIX, MS Windows, and IBM Zseries operating systems * Experience in developing and applying a database management strategy and leading technical data related projects * Experience with dimensional data models and data warehouses would be asset Education / Professional Courses * Completion of a community college diploma with courses in relational databases, structured query language, networks, operating systems Key Skills * Well-developed organizational skills * Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects * Ability to work independently and as a team member * Ability to think logically, analyze and/or solve problems * Well-developed evaluation, decision- making, and system integration skills * Ability to learn new technology Thank you, DBA FYI Center http://dba.fyicenter.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ORACLE DWH DBA" group.
