DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR Summary: The scope of this position will be that of overall management of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 databases, Microsoft Analysis and Reporting Services and Hyperion Essbase OLAP databases. >The MS SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for design, >implementation and maintenance of MS SQL Server 2000/2005 database system >components. The SQL Server DBA will function as part of the Systems >Administration team to support the existing technologies and design and >rollouts of new database technologies on MS Windows platforms. A person in >this position will work with IT and Business units to proactively gather >business requirements, communicate Technology requirements and develop a >standardized approach for the system support. The SQL DBA will be responsible >for documenting and training other team members on these technologies. Responsibilities: ? Perform day to day management, updates, maintenance and troubleshooting of the company*s SQL databases and OLAP/Reporting Services servers. ? Perform day to day security functions. Review in place security and work with development team to correct security problems and streamline security implementation. ? Audit and test disaster recovery processes, including validation of backups and testing restores. ? Daily audit of scheduled tasks and troubleshooting failed tasks. ? Review error logs for problems and troubleshoot any errors. ? Assist in design and implementation of SQL Server data warehouse. Evaluate and design dimensional modeling schemas for validity and robustness. Create TSQL stored procedures for data loads. Create DTS packages for ETL processes. ? Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. ? Responsible for any other tasks deemed necessary to maintain a reliable infrastructure for the field and corporate users. ? Work directly with Infrastructure team assisting managing MS DB for MS Operations Manager ? Manage change control and SAS70/PCI related database processes. ? Proactively monitoring the company*s database storage environment and recommending and implementing optimization strategies ? Developing and optimizing database queries, stored procedures, triggers and scripts as necessary. ? Documenting, implementing, and training DBA staff on best practice DB access methodologies. ? Ad Hoc projects as assigned. Requires: ? Certified as a MCDBA ? 3 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server ? TSQL knowledge required ? VBScript experience ? MDX knowledge required ? 1 year experience with Microsoft SQL Analysis and Reporting Services ? Hyperion Essbase experience helpful ? Microsoft Development Tools * Minimum of 2 years experience managing technical projects, preferably in a cross-functional setting. * Excellent oral and written communications skills for presentations and status reporting.
