Database Administrator Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Act as the primary liaison and monitor performance as well as nightly routines on all relevant servers (database, web, and standby), including backups, re-indexing, integrity checks, etc. · Maintain a working, up-do-date test environment for all critical databases and web applications · Maintain a high level of technical product knowledge which includes reading manuals, self-teaching, training courses, and testing of new product releases and patches · Test, install and maintain products (EX, JICS), Powerfaids and SQL, including new versions and patches on the servers and on client machines · Develop criteria for new report and programming requests within the application · Write, maintain, and document custom queries, reports, and procedures · Convert user specifications for application development into specifications usable for program development by self or vendor · Oversee the campus web server using IIS (internet information services) Provide training to users and new employees · Create database user accounts and manage/document database security according to I.T. standards. Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required: · Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 1 - 3 years experience with SQL 2000/2005 · Must have server administration experience, including security, transact-SQL, tables, queries, views, stored procedures, triggers, DTS/ SSIS and server Jobs including DB Maintenance Plans; IIS (Internet Information Services) Manager administration experience; HTML/ASP scripting for websites interacting with SQL data; custom report design . · Must have the ability to design reports in multiple environments including, Info-Maker, Crystal, Access, ASP, Excel and SQL Reporting Services.
