Please feel free to call me or mail me for further information: Title: Linux Administrator with expertise in VMWare Skills: Linux, VMWare, V13, P2V migrations, Vmotion, EMC Storage,TCP/IP Suite, Unix, Red Hat Certified Duration : 6 months Location : West Chester, PA Description: A client in West Chester, PA is in need of a Linux Administrator with expertise in VMWare who will be responsible for advanced installation, configuration, and management of Linux operating systems and related toolsets, and supporting complex enterprise-level applications. The ideal candidate will also have both broad and deep experience as a Systems Administrator working with VMWare technologies, specifically in the areas of VI3, P2V migrations, Vmotion, Storage Vmotion, DRS and HA. Candidate should also have experience with VMWare systems running in an EMC storage environment. Position requires experience with building VMware VMs from template. The qualified candidate will perform a variety of difficult assignments associated with Linux System administration, including monitoring and controlling of Linux installations, analyzing system faults, troubleshooting issues, and running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect and resolve problems. Essential Duties: 1. Assist with the installation, configuration and management of the Linux infrastructure. 2. Analyze system performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources. 3. Monitors resource usage, making required adjustments. 4. Participate in on-call production support activities based upon documented support procedures. 5. Recommend improvements to facilitate better management and monitoring of the environment. 6. Ability to effectively communicate across the organization 7. Coordinate activities with vendors as required. Education and Experience: * Equivalent of Bachelor*s Degree in Information Systems or related field. * 8+ years experience as a Linux Systems Administrator in a client/ server environment. Special Qualifications: * Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) preferred * VCP is a plus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux at the Enterprise Level in a highly available environment. * A solid understanding of the operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions), can use performance analysis to tune systems. * A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts. * Understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide filesytem layouts. * Minimum of 2 years experience with VI3 including Virtual Center 2.5 and ESX 3.x * Familiarity with security and hardening of servers and obtaining authorization to operate. * Documentation of Data Center configurations. * Ability to clone VM from template * Strong knowledge and understanding of the VMWare Infrastructure environment * Strong shell and perl scripting skills * Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP Suite (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, etc.) as well as the network management protocol, SNMP * Thorough understanding of RPM, rpmbuild and custom package creation and management * Large storage arrays (SAN) * Knowledge of other UNIX operating systems (Solaris, AIX, HP-Ux) Ability to: * Produce thorough and effective technical documentation. * Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management. * Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
