Sr Database Admin

Description: Job Duties: Designs, installs, maintains and upgrades the
enterprises production databases.Provides technical expertise in the
use of database technology.Accountable for the overall performance of
the enterprises database environment.Works closely with clients,
business analysts, systems programmers, and application developers to
define and resolve information flow and content issues---helping to
transform business requirements into environment specific
databases.Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and allocates
database resources to achieve optimum database performance.Works on
multiple projects as a project leader, or sometimes as a project
advisor.Supports multiple servers and multiple databases of medium to
high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used,
and system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users,
ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data.Works
independently on projects.Requires minimum coaching on interfacing
with multiple IT groups and business units.Provides technical coaching
to business functions and lower level database administrators on more
complex issues.

Qualifications: Expert in database administration, database monitoring
and tuning, logical data modeling, and physical database
development.Understands the principles, theories, practices and
techniques of project management.Understands the technology impacts on
business strategic direction enabling definition and integration of
technical plans supporting the enterprise business functions and
processes.5+ yrs of related IT Experience.Associates
Certifications.Knowledgeable of database requirements for high
availability environments. Proficient in setting up database security
levels, applying shell scripting tools, and the use of database
software. Working knowledge of database platforms would be considered
beneficial. In depth working knowledge of the Oracle platform and all
associated administrative tools. Working knowledge of additional
database platforms such as SQL Server would be considered beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to automate routine DBA tasks with Shell
scripting. Advanced knowledge of Oracle DBA tasks (proactive
monitoring and identifying of areas that need to be improved in the
application or database). Ability to effectively communicate, both
verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
Required to be on call. Specific skill that would be beneficial would
include, but not be limited to:· Oracle Database administration
expertise in 10g, 9i· Oracle software installs, upgrades in version
10g, 9i· Backup and recovery using RMAN· Performance tuning at the
application level (SQL) and at the database instance level.·
Familiarity with tools like Oracle Enterprise Manger and Grid control
highly desired.· Experience with AIX, Solaris, Linux, UNIX Scripting,
Veritas Net backup and Veritas Cluster manager preferred· Oracle
replication and RAC experience a plus
