Summary
The Quantitative Investment Strategies team is a quantitative Portfolio
Management Desk. The Desk manages one of the largest hedge funds in the
world using sophisticated quantitative models. It trades across assets
classes on a global basis using a wide variety of instruments (cash
securities, futures, forwards, options, interest rate swaps and other OTC
derivatives).
The QIS Architecture and Infrastructure team works closely with the
technology teams that directly support the business. This group requires a
software configuration and deployment engineer that can define and implement
the best practices for scripting and operating software in a mission
critical operation.
The ideal candidate will have experience in scripting software to operate
with a variety of :
Architectures - Compute Grids, Batch, Daemons, Live/Live, Live/Cold
Languages – java, C++, C#, Matlab, Perl
Operating systems - Windows, Linux, Solaris, NetApps
Process management/monitoring/alerting solutions - Autosys, Sungrid, JMX,
Ganglia, Nagios, HPOV, Lifeline, NetCool, SendTrap, SNMP, MOM
Scripting languages and shells – bash, ksh, powershell
Enterprise authentication and entitlement solutions – Kerberos, LDAP, Active
Directory
Enterprise log file management – log4j, log4net, Splunk
The rewards of this role include working with a first class team, learning
the quantitative technology platform and working with the investment
management process from construction to execution.
Principal Responsibilities
Work as part of the QIS Architecture and Infrastructure team, reporting to
the team’s manager.
Design and document best practices for configuring and operating software.
Work with the firms engineers to evolve solutions.
Hands on configuration and scripting – working with the teams build
automation and deployment team to implement scripts and configuration to
operate departments software portfolio.
Definition and implementation of rule based policies to generate the
appropriate alerts.
Experience/Skills:
At least five years of experience in scripting, configuring and deploying
enterprise software
Experience with monitoring, alerting and reporting systems – Nagios, Ganglia
or JMX are a plus.
Experience with C/C++ and java virtual machines a plus
Experience with grid management software - Sun Grid Engine monitoring is a
plus
Strong UNIX and windows scripting skillls ( bash, perl, sed, awk, grep,
python)
Experience with RDBMS and File System monitoring is a plus.
Cooperate within a team and work in a rigorous and stimulating environment
Strong commitment toward best practices within enterprise development and
deployment
Very good client facing skills
