We are have a very very urgent requirement for "Computer Operator" @ MA
Computer Operator
Work Location: Marlborough. MA
Candidate might occasionally be asked to work a Sunday night in Boston,
but this will happen very rarely.
Estimated Duration: 12 Months Target
Start Date: ASAP
Hours:- work overnight shift from 6:30pm - 7am with some flexibility as
required, candidate will be working 3 nights
They need an additional Contractor for 12+ month
Interview Process - Starts with a phone screen with 1-3 people.
Will need to pass background check.
If invited for an in person interview, candidate will be required to come
in twice to meet with day and night teams.
The hiring decision is made collectively by the Manager and his team
Key's to the Req
1. Tivoli Work Scheduler or TWS
2. Backup experience, Client uses CommVault, any backup tools exp will
do
3. UNIX Knowledge, being able to write basic commands
4. Candidate must pass full background check prior to in person
interview
5. Candidate must be self motivated and willing to learn. This is a
very complex and highly customized environment.
6. Chosen candidate will likely work in a team for an extended period
of time prior to running their own console
7. Candidate must be able to work from 7-7, Sun, Mon, Tues or Thurs,
Fri Sat. Ideally be able to rotate both shifts, but would consider
candidates that can only work a fixed schedule if it works for
the rest of
the team (candidates must have flexibility to work either
location as needed
based on priorities
8. Might consider a Mainframe Operator if they have EXTENSIVE TWS
Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Job Requirements ยท 5+ Years experience in a computer
operator position
- Working knowledge and experience with:
Scheduling systems -Tivoli Work Scheduler (TWS) Maestro Job Scheduler is
a MUST
Monitor Backup and Recovery software (such as CommVault or NetBackup)
CommVault is the most important one but experience with any other will do.
Systems Monitoring (such as HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, or CA Unicenter)
Knowledge of Cluster management software (such as Veritas Cluster
Service(VCS) or VMWare) is preferred but not required
Knowledge of Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating system
Strongly prefer candidates that can write basic UNIX Commands
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Ability to multi-task several mission critical tasks with little
supervision. Must be able to Monitor Nightly Job Cycles and understand and
follow the proper escalation policies
Flexibility in working hours is highly desired
3, 12-13 hr nights, Sun, Mon, Tues and Thurs, Fri, Sat Preferred on a
Rotational basis
requires either Saturday or Sunday nights, depending on the rotation.
Position is based in Marlborough
Knowledge of industry standards and practices of a multi platform data
center is helpful.

Description:
Job Abstract
Reporting to a Manager of Global Operations, the computer operator works
as a part of a multi-shift environment, supporting 7x24x365 Global
Operations. The successful candidate can work independently, on any night
shift, performing all the duties of a computer operator including monitoring
nightly batch cycle via Tivoli Work Scheduler, monitoring systems,
performing backups and restores of files and files systems on Solaris and
Windows operating systems. It is critical for the candidate to be a self
learner and be able to work based on learning from our documentation. There
will be minimal training provided, thus we prefer a self-paced and
self-motivated candidate.
The candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating progress and
responsibility in their career, good verbal and written communication skills
