Database Administrator Minimum Required Skills: · Database Administration in Linux production environment of MySQL, replication,, PostgreSQL, Perl, memcached, High Volume Databases; Experience in single databases 1TB+ and distributed databases with large scale would be desirable. · Data modeling experience and/or database design experience working with development teams to optimize database design for security & high performance would be desirable. Experience/Education: · Strong working knowledge of Linux and tools in Linux environment. · Solid understanding of MySQL and 5+ years of Linux/MySQL experience with excellent command of SQL; Understands replication, caching, and scaling; understands database optimization techniques; · Experience / understanding of other database engines like Postgress with PL/pgSQL, Oracle, etc would be a added advantage; can use performance analysis to tune systems. Solid understanding of the PostgreSQL database system; · Ability to program in an administrative language (Perl, a shell); ability to program in php and/or help developers with applications performance tuning w.r.t database would be a added advantage · Strong interpersonal and communications skills; · Production Support: o Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes. o Strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly assess and prioritize. o Flexible and adaptive; ability to provide structure where appropriate and needed. o Be solutions oriented and self-motivated. o Experience with Linux or other UNIX variants. o MySQL, Postgress or other relational database administration experience. o Experience with memcached, distributed databases and/or other significant MySQL / PostgreSQL add-ons and tools. · Bachelor's in Computer Science and/or strong equivalent work experience.
