Here is a new requirement I need help with in NH. Must have strong Oracle
DBA experience with SQL, tuning, SQL wait events and large data sets

Job Description:
One of my clients in NH is looking for a Senior Application Oracle DBA with
very strong SQL tuning, SQL wait events and large data sets experience for a
6+ month project. This is going to be a Leadership role. The position
requires a Database Administrator with strong physical data modeling,
development and SQL tuning skills in order to support various database
initiatives within the Investment Management division.
Responsibilities:
o Perform applications database administration functions including SQL
tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and developer
support
o Expertise with large data sets, data movement, partitioning, shell
scripting and PL/SQL development
o Work with development teams in database design process and make
suggestions/recommendations based on data manipulation needs of the
application
o Provide database support in all phases of SDLC
o Work with other people in the team to come up with solutions in line
with group's standards
o Position requires 7X24 on call rotation schedule for various production
support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs
o Interface with Operations Database group, Systems Administrators and
Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands
o Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with
solutions and/or workarounds
o Project coordination and planning
o Evaluation and recommendation of software products in database
management arena
o Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability
to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time
o Self motivated with strong team and interpersonal skills
o Must have strong SQL tuning skills, doing large data sets and evaluate
and trace. Must know wait based SQL tuning.
o Must be available to travel to Boston 2 days a week, may be more in the
beginning.
o There is also a shared on-call support
Skills:
o 8+ years of Oracle DBA/Development experience
o Extensive experience with wait-based SQL tuning
o Skills in PL/SQL, Shell scripting, Job Scheduling like Autosys
o Experience in data modeling tool eg. Power Designer
o Experience with Oracle's 11g and RAC a plus
o Experience with Oracle Application Server will be plus
o Experience in the Mutual Fund/Financial Services industry is preferred
