Job Description
Reuters is seeking a Senior Application Designer to help develop state of
the art user interfaces for our client-facing web applications. The primary
role of the Senior Application Designer will be to conceptualize, wireframe,
and design engaging, clean, and functional user experiences for our clients.
You will work closely with the Product Manager and Creative Director to
bring these applications to market.
Our ideal candidate understands our fast-paced news environment, will be
well organized, possess excellent communication skills, and is experienced
in translating challenging business requirements into innovative design
solutions. They will also have a passion for, and curiosity about
information consumption, and strive to develop innovative solutions to
everyday usability problems.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
· Work must exhibit an exceptional understanding of the principles of
user-centered visual design, layout, typography, usability and interaction
· Expert level of knowledge working with the most common tools of the trade
(Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash, wireframing and prototyping
software)
· Must be Fluent in HTML, CSS, XHTML, and other languages associated with
front-end development
· Must have experience working with news content, video, photos, and rich
media
Candidate Requirements
· All candidates must provide access to an online portfolio or digital body
of work
· 6+ years as a graphic designer creating solutions for the Web
Education Requirement
· Must have a Bachelors Degree
Other Desired Qualities
· Experience in a news media environment
· Experience working with large amounts of data
· Experience designing for mobile websites, mobile applications and
web-based applications
· Willingness to adhere to editorial and design style guides.
