Title: Senior UNIX Administrator Department: Information Systems Reports to: Director – IT Infrastructure Location : Southfield, MICHIGAN Position Summary: This person will provide informal leadership and direction for UNIX systems at the Client Site. Responsible for administration of UNIX servers. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IS policies, procedures and Service Level Agreements. Monitors the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures data integrity by maintaining appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data recovery by executing a schedule of system backups. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures. Maintains a comprehensive UNIX library of all supporting documentation. Serves as the first line of defense against intrusion and inadvertent system damage. Responsible for assisting internal and external auditors. Responsible for developing UNIX strategies. Provides guidance and mentoring to UNIX administrators and Infrastructure team as a whole. • Must have no less than 5 years of experience doing UNIX OS support in a HA environment, a strong background with Linux, Sun/Solaris and HP-UX • Experience with Veritas filesystems, LVM • Experience with clustering and high-availability solutions such as Veritas/Oracle RAC and HP-UX ServiceGuard • Experience with SANs (Storage Area Networks) across UNIX and Windows using EMC software and hardware • Write and augment scripts in various UNIX shells, Perl experience a plus. • Experience with Symantec NetBackup • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation 24X7 • Experience in an Oracle environment • Experience in financial services is a plus Required Background: • 5 years minimum of UNIX system administration experience. • At least a BS in Computer Science, MIS, CIS or a related field or equivalent experience.
