Client: Accenture Position: Re-platform Oracle DBA Location: Houston, TX Duration: 6+ months contract Job Description: The Re-platform Oracle DBA will have the following responsibilities which will be part of a bigger effort to re-platform a legacy application from HP UNIX 11i and Oracle 9i to RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 5.4/5.5 and Oracle 10g.: 1. Analyze all database components (e.g. PL/SQL store procedures, etc.) running in the existing Oracle 9i environment on UNIX 11i to assess the impact of upgrading it to Oracle 10g running on LINUX 5.4/5.5. 2. Define a detailed Oracle 9i/UNIX 11i to Oracle 10g/LINUX 5.4 migration plan with high confidence (90/10) 3. Work with the T-Systems DBA to design the new Oracle 10g environment in LINUX 5.4/5.5 env 4. Perform hands-on Oracle migration per the detail plan (#2 above) with support from T-Systems DBA 5. Provide hands-on database support to the Application Developer who will be migrating Visual Basic applications and Classic ASP code from Oracle 9i/UNIX 11i to Oracle 10g/LINUX 5.4 environment 6. Provide hands on support to the UNIX/LINUX specialist with the migration of OS components and configurations from UNIX to LINUX. Such components and configurations will include (not an exhaustive list): a. KSH scripts b. ERP extracts including security c. Cron scheduling using SQL loader utility d. Control-M scheduling e. Connect Direct f. C-Programs Required Skills: 1. Mastery in designing, building, and running Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g databases on both UNIX 11i and RHEL 5.4/5.5 operating systems 2. Hands-On experience in upgrading Oracle 9i to 10g and in migrating OS from UNIX 11i to RHEL 5.4/5.5 3. Experience in writing PL/SQL stored procedures in Oracle 9i and 10g 4. Experience in invoking application processing in Oracle 9i and 10g from both UNIX 11i and RHEL 5.4/5.5 environments 5.
